This is Britney's third compilation disc in the past year, and her fifth since 2004 (not counting the two remix CD's.)

that's what it has become; the old acts just re-re-re-re-release their albums with little additions and live shows attached and the new acts just put out greatest hits and remix albums........and then they wonder why no one is buying.

Guess you can never have enough Britney?

She recorded a new song, "Ooh La La," for the Smurfs 2 soundtrack. Would it have killed them to include it on this comp?

One of the comps that was released last year, a budget/import title on the Sony Music Camden label, had a few B-sides. Interestingly, Sony Music Global was reportedly unaware of the release:

That's a really good record. I only became aware of it a few weeks ago. I'm no fan of will.i.am., but he did a good job there (as did Britney, bitch).

For the few who might be interested, this title was apparently pulled and/or deleted almost immediately. New copies on Amazon start at $40.

Really? Wow! I picked this up on a whim at Target a few weeks back. I hadn't bought any of her albums since the third one but have liked a few singles since then. It's a nice collection (as are the majority of Sony's Essential series). Had no idea it would be gone so quickly. Most of the Essential titles seem to have a long shelf life!

This was a weird release--I never saw it at a Walmart; everybody who owns it seems to have purchased it, as I did, at Target.

There was apparently never any sort of official statement made concerning an apparent recall, but in in googling this, the reasonable consensus seems to be that there were issues concerning the use of the "Scream & Shout", a single by "will.i.am" [sic] found on the Interscope album "#willpower". Interscope is a UMG label. It's anybody's guess what happened behind the scenes, but I can understand why it makes little sense for UMG to allow Sony BMG to use a recent single from an album barely six months old.

No worries, I'm sure we will see many many more Britney comps in years to come.

I got a promo copy at 'Rama (w/drill hole) when it was released. They've been trying to order more, found out it's no longer available.

I had skipped this because I have everything on it and I was unhappy with some of the omissions, but since it's now a rarity....

Ordered it online through a local retailer and the order went through at $13.99. We'll see if it ships...

Remember, Britney's new album is set for December 3rd, and her new single "Perfume" just premiered in the last day or two at all the online outlets.

Plus, this disc has Britney Spears music on it, another big knock against it.

I ended getting a new copy of this cheap from Amazon, so now I can Scream And Shout on Britney's birthday.
