Quote: Sylvester Stallone Confirms Nicolas Cage for THE EXPENDABLES 3; Still Wants Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, and Mickey RourkeIt appears that Nicolas Cage has forgotten how to use the word “no.” The actor has signed on to a large number of projects as of late, including a reboot of the Evangelical Christian series Left Behind. He’s now adding another project to his slate, though this one is more in line with the fun Nic Cage of the 1990s. We learned back in August that producers were trying to rope in some high profile names for the invetiable action sequel The Expendables 3, and Cage was on said wish list. Now Sylvester Stallone has revealed a bit about the confirmed follow-up, stating that Cage is indeed onboard. Speaking with El Pais, Stallone confirmed Cage’s casting and reiterated his desire to nab a few more names for the sequel. Here’s his translated quote: Quote: We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. I still think nabbing Ford is a longshot, but I suppose Snipes and Rourke could possibly sign on. We still don’t know who will be writing or directing the third entry, but resident stick in the mud Chuck Norris has already confirmed that he won’t be returning for another go-around. http://www.collider.com/expendables-3-n ... age/208691

I never did see Expendables 1 or 2 but I can see a mini marathon in my future. Seems like it might either be fun or so bad, it's hilarious. Either way, kind of a win win?

Quote: Nicolas Cage ‘Expendables 3′ Reports False, Says Sylvester Stallone
Sylvester Stallone says he “has no knowledge of Nic Cage joining Expendables 3,” the actor told Deadline today, and that reports of negotiations for the Oscar winner to join the latest film in the action franchise are false. Several news outlets reported yesterday that Stallone had confirmed Cage for the next Expendables movie, citing either a Stallone fan Facebook page purporting to be the actor’s own or comments by Stallone that appeared in Spanish daily El Pais earlier this year. In the El Pais article, Cage’s name — as well as that of Mickey Rourke, who was in the first Expendables, Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes — were noted as additions to a third Expendables. Those statements were made during European junkets this summer for Expendables 2, when Stallone was asked at a press conference who he would like to see in a possible second sequel. Although the Cage rumors are untrue, what is a fact is that Expendables 3 is in the offering. NuImage/Millennium Films has been selling international distribution rights at AFM this past week. http://www.deadline.com/2012/11/nicolas ... r-stallone

Quote: Jackie Chan to appear in 'The Expendables 3'
Jackie Chan is to feature in the next adventure from Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables.
Chan broke the news at a press conference for his new movie CZ12, which was attended by Cinema Online. He revealed: "Sly had invited me to be in The Expendables 2 but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn't make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."
Chan added that the script for The Expendables 3 is currently being worked on to meet his criteria. CZ12 - a Hong Kong action flick which Chan wrote, directed and stars in - has just had its worldwide premiere in Beijing. The film's UK release date is currently unconfirmed.
Back in November (2012), it was reported that Nicolas Cage had joined the cast for The Expendables 3, but Stallone quickly dismissed this rumour. Producer Avi Lerner had previously revealed that Cage was on his wish list for the movie - alongside Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke.
Released in 2010, the original The Expendables film teamed Stallone with a raft of ageing action heroes, including Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mickey Rourke. The tongue-in-cheek action flick became an unexpected hit at the box office, grossing over $274 million (£174 million) worldwide.
The Expendables 2 added Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris to the muscle-bound mix, but Rourke chose to sit it out. The sequel opened in cinemas this August (2012) and has beaten the original at the box office, with worldwide takings exceeding $289 million (£180 million). The Expendables 3 is currently in development. http://www.nme.com/filmandtv/news/jacki ... s-3/293513

Quote: Sylvester Stallone wants 'young bloods' for 'The Expendables 3'
Sylvester Stallone has taken to Twitter to give an update on The Expendables 3.
"Writing EX3 at the moment... there are going to be mountains of surprises," he told over 750,000 Twitter followers, before adding: "EX3 needs NEW blood and more humor.... The films were always meant to be more on the humorous side with moments of drama."
Continuing, Stallone revealed that action legend Steven Seagal will not be joining the cast, but confirmed that Jackie Chan could make an appearance. "No S. Seagal, sorry ,but maybe we get lucky with J. Chan! And some young bloods!!!!" he wrote. Chan appeared to confirm his role in The Expendables 3 at a press conference in December.
In his final Expendables-related tweet, Stallone posted:

Quote: Sylvester Stallone Chooses Australian Director for 'Expendables 3'
Australian helmer Patrick Hughes has been chosen by Sylvester Stallone to direct The Expendables 3, the third installment in Stallone’s all-star action movie franchise.
Hughes doesn’t have the gig yet. Sources say he is flying in shortly to meet with the heads of Millennium, the company behind the franchise. He is expected to get the offer.
Hill is a relative newcomer with one feature film under his belt: Red Hill, the acclaimed 2010 thriller that starred Ryan Kwanten as a city police officer having a hell of a first day in a country town.
Expendables 3 is expected to welcome back the majority of its action stars, including Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren. The producers hope to also add Wesley Snipes as they eye a shoot in late July-early August. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-v ... tor-444781

Quote: Jackie Chan on 'Expendables 3': 'I've not read the script yet'
Jackie Chan has revealed that he has not yet read the script for Expendables 3.
In December last year (2012), Chan broke the news at a press conference for his movie CZ12 that he would only sign on to feature in the action movie sequel if the script met his criteria. Now, 6 months later, Chan has revealed that he has yet to agree to be in the film.
Confirming that he has been approached, he told Empire: "[The Expendables team] did contact me, but right now I have not read the script yet. I’d love to work with Stallone, but until I get back next week and meet Stallone and his manager, see the script… that’s when he’ll tell me what happens."
He added: "I'd most like to have a fight scene with Stallone. Though I'd like to team up with him against the bad guy. There are so many action stars involved, it must be so difficult being the director. How do you share out every scene? 'I want to do something special, I want to do something special!' At the end, it’s all small parts, small parts, small parts. I want a big part! I hope I have a big part with Stallone!" http://www.nme.com/filmandtv/news/jacki ... the/307910

I came into this thread with the sole desire to profess my lack of desire to watch this movie. Then I heard Nicholas Cage was in it. I love Nicholas Cage, he does a lot of shit movies, but he has a tendency to be able to raise shit movies to the level of mediocrity. Then I heard he wasn't actually going to be in it. Then I heard Jackie Chan was going to be in it and I was maybe, just maybe, back on board. And now I hear it's not a sure thing.
This thread has been an emotional roller coaster.

Quote: Update On THE EXPENDABLES 3 Casting; Milla Jovovich Negotiating For Role This morning, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer offered an update on the third film in The Expendables series (via Deadline). He confirmed that filming will begin in August, and he also said that Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan and Milla Jovovich are all in "advanced negotiations" to join the star-studded ensemble. We previously heard Sylvester Stallone hint that Snipes was on board/in talks, and it was previously rumored (though not confirmed) that Chan and Cage were officially signed on. Plus, Stallone said that he wanted a "young Sigourney Weaver"-type character for the threequel. Could this be who Jovovich is in talks to play? http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=80583

If Jackie Chan was in this one, it'd really be the ultimate action movie franchise.

Quote: Now Mel Gibson is Rumored to Play the Villain in 'The Expendables 3'
Back in April, Sylvester Stallone himself entertained the idea of bringing Mel Gibson on to direct The Expendables 3. That never came to fruition since Red Hill director Patrick Hughes is behind the sequel now. However, it sounds like Stallone might have locked down Gibson for The Expendables 3 in a different role. Showbiz 411 is reporting that Gibson is being lined up to take the villain role in the action ensemble sequel which just recently confirmed Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Jackie Chan, not to mention adding Milla Jovovich into the mix as the new bad ass female. Could this be some kind of a comeback for Gibson?
While the prospect of Gibson taking on the likes of Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews and the rest of the gang in the August 2014 release, it also seems too easy. After all, Gibson is already appearing as the villain in the over-the-top grindhouse action sequel Machete Kills later this year. And while this film certainly has a different style, playing the villain in The Expendables 3 might just seem a little too familiar. Of course, Gibson has had a hard time since certain public antics have painted him in a negative light, so maybe he's just taking what he can get at this point. http://www.firstshowing.net/2013/now-me ... endables-3

Quote: 'Twilight' Star Kellan Lutz in Talks to Join Sylvester Stallone in 'Expendables 3'
Kellan Lutz, who played Emmett Cullen in "The Twilight Saga," is in early talks to join Sylvester Stallone in "The Expendables 3," an individual familiar with the Lionsgate project told TheWrap.
Lionsgate did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Australian filmmaker Patrick Hughes, who has a successful background in commercials, is directing the action-packed sequel, which Stallone is producing with Millennium Films.
According to insiders, "Expendables 3" will introduce a younger group of tech-savvy action heroes who initially clash with the older crew, though they eventually team up to save the day.
It remains unclear which surviving cast from "The Expendables 2" will join Stallone in the sequel, though action heroes Jackie Chan and Wesley Snipes have been rumored for new roles.
While Stallone has hinted on Twitter at the potential casting of Mel Gibson, TheWrap has confirmed that the "Lethal Weapon" star is not officially involved with "The Expendables 3" at the moment.
"The Expendables" films have grossed more than half a billion dollars, and the latest sequel will start shooting next month. "The Expendables 3" hits theaters Aug. 15, 2014.
Since his breakout role in the "Twilight Saga," Lutz has starred in Relativity's "Immortals" and the Michael Bay-produced remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street." He recently wrapped the title role in Renny Harlin's "Hercules 3D" and also stars in an upcoming "Tarzan" movie.
Lutz is repped by Innovative Artists, Zero Gravity Management and attorney Jeffrey Endlich. http://www.thewrap.com/movies/column-po ... ive-105346

I was going to say that it was unbelievable that no one has an attempted a remake of The Dirty Dozen, but I see that it's in development.

Someone told me this last night, this could be fun like the second one(although I will miss Mr. Church) but we'll get "The Finger of Doom" instead!

I didn't see 1 or 2 at the theater and I'm still not sure if I'd see 3 unless Eastwood was in it.
