A pair of Thin Lizzy albums, “Thunder And Lightning” and “Renegade”, are being reissued in the UK on September 23.

1983’s “Thunder And Lightning” is getting the full Deluxe Edition treatment with the addition of 13 bonus tracks made up of rare live material and demos, including “The Boys Are Back in Town” live at Hammersmith 1981. The record was the 12th and final studio album by the Irish rockers.

The reissue of 1981’s “Renegade” will include 5 bonus tracks of b-sides and rare extended mixes

I'd been sitting on the info for a while, but now it's official that these will be out. I love both albums-especially Thunder And Lightning. Scott Gorham vetoed the bonus cuts they wanted to use for Renegade, so it will not be a 2 CD Deluxe, but they used good stuff anyway.

Doesn't look like Life/Live will get the treatment which is s shame as that absolutely needs to be remastered and even remixed. The Metal Blade remaster is the best out there though. They may tackle this one at some point but I've been told that it's not likely.

So, this will be great and then the box set in February.

It's about time ! Two excellent albums . Thunder And Lighting is my favorite Lizzy album (and a great driving cd too). , Renegade is no slouch either . I can't until I can crank The Holy War and Cold Sweat . Gotta save my pennies now .

Thunder And Lightning is way too expensive and hasn't come down yet. I may have to painfully wait a bit on that one. It shouldn't be 15 lbs as the others were 12 or less. Anyone find a better price yet?

I'm listening to the 2nd disc of T&L right now. The live tracks are awesome. Haven't gotten to the demos yet.

Thunder And Lightning came down to 11.55 lbs today. Even better!

They are very well done, and sound really nice. Andy Pearce and Matt Wortham handled the remastering.

I am disappointed there weren't more rarities, but Scott vetoed anything else.

Yeah, same here. There is a 12" single of "Thunder And Lightning" b/w "Still In Love With You" live in 1983, and another 12" with both an extended 12" remix of "The Sun Goes Down" and a shorter version, both with additional overdubs that absolutely should have been included. Additionally, the live tracks are from Hammersmith 1981, when Renegade was new, so isn't Snowy White on those six performances? It states the recording for Thunder And Lightning took place in 1982, and that most of the material was already written when Sykes joined the band (aside from "Cold Sweat") so it would seem doubtful he was playing with them back in 1981. If it is White on the live tracks, he gets totally screwed by getting no credit for his performing on them.
