Former Del Amitri front man Justin Currie will release his new solo album ‘Lower Reaches’ on 19th August. Recorded in Austin, Texas, with producer Mike McCarthy (Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), Spoon, Patty Griffin, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead) the album will be the first release on Currie’s own label Endless Shipwreck, through Ignition Records. For a taster of the new album visit http://www.justincurrie.com now for a free download of album track ‘Little Stars’.

There are two singers I consider my favorites of the last 30 years, and they're both Scottish: the late Stuart Adamson (of Big Country) and Justin Currie. Not only does Justin have an amazing voice that never seems to age, but he's written a ridiculous amount of memorable songs (and I would argue that no one in history has written as many great bridges as him). The song he's featuring as a free download, "Little Stars," is decent but not indicative of his talents. He posted another song from the album, "Bend To My Will," on his Facebook page recently and I like that one a lot more. It has hints of The Eagles' "Already Gone."

This is probably my most eagerly awaited release for the remainder of 2013.

For anyone (like me) who missed picking this up as an import, it is being released domestically in the U.S. next week, with two bonus tracks: "Guess", and "London Is Dead"
