Pre-ordered mine from her website last week. It's available in "wallet-style packaging and 12-page booklet with lyrics and artwork." FYI, when you add in shipping ($5.95) and tax ($1.58 for NY), the total cost comes out to just over $20. I love Sam's music and it's worth it for me, but I thought everyone should know in case that price point is higher than you're willing to spend.

I used to really like her, but I've gotten to a similar point with SP as with Crow & Etheridge: I only seem to want to hear the first 2 or 3 anymore; the rest all start to sound like less inspired versions of the same.

I'LL push a button, and not just ANY button... it's labeled the "Sam Phillips Christmas CD" button and will close-out with her rendition of "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" from the movie by almost the same title.

I really like "Things I Shouldn't Have Told You," and pre-ordered the new album a few weeks ago...got this e-mail from Sam Phillips today:
From: Sam Phillips <do-not-reply@topspinmedia.com> Sent: Saturday, June 29, 2013 3:24 PM Subject: Is 29 Minutes Enough?
Dear Friends,
My new album, Push Any Button, clocks in at 29 minutes. Because I'm listening to more vinyl these days 29 minutes seems to be just the right length for an album.
But I've decided to go back into the studio this week to record some extra tracks exclusively for listeners who purchase Push Any Button from samphillips.com in any format. I also want to give you these free digital tracks as a thank you gift for supporting my first self-released studio album.
The official release date is August 13th, but samphillips.com orders start shipping in mid-July!
Happy summer and all the best from Sam

now... i don't mind a short recording... but 29 minutes only? who is she kidding? most of MY vinyl records (an average of thousands of them) run 35-40 minutes. maybe she's emulating the country-western records of old with a mandate of only 10 songs. yeah... that's it... sam's gone C&W!
good grief... at least be truthful and call it an EP.

I don't have a problem with the album being 29 minutes as long as every song is worth hearing. It's certainly better than a 65-minute album that goes nowhere, which a lot of artists have done just for the sake of extending the running time of the disc. I believe all three of her Nonesuch albums were between 30 & 35 minutes, so brevity is not something new for her. Heck, the majority of albums by the original lineup of Van Halen were in the 30-33 minute range, and some of them (like Diver Down) were padded with cover songs. Sure, for $20+ (which this ended up costing me, including shipping & tax) is a lot for such a short record, especially one in a pocket sleeve, but I'm eagerly awaiting it...and happy to hear that I'll get some extra digital tracks.

i agree that i'd certainly prefer 29 good minutes to 65 mediocre ones! i'd just rather her be honest about that. don't claim reasoning behind the brevity as "i'm listening more to vinyl these days." i still own about 3000 pieces of full-length vinyl and i'm confident the average is 35-40 minutes. i joke (seriously) about C&W because for a long time (during the 80's, mostly), labels put a cap on the number of songs allowed - ten, which then led to very short albums by those artists; albeit i'm not much of a C&W fan either way. yes... 29 minutes is longer than an EP - my hyperbole got the better of me, but i'd prefer Sam just come out and say: "it's a short collection - hope you love it!" i hate it when people pee on my leg and tell me it's raining!

You have every right to be upset about her explanation. I hope it didn't seem like I was criticizing your criticism. I just happen to not care that it's only 29 minutes, especially considering that several of her albums are only 2-3 minutes longer than that. For what we're getting, though (short album, minimal packaging other than a 12-page booklet or folder), I really hope it's a kick-ass album.
