Los Nuggetz is a collection of 1960s hyper kinetic garage, punk, pop and psychedelic music from Mexico, Spain and Latin American countries. While the inspiration for this collection has been the enduring trend and influence of American garage and psych bands from the 60s, it is our hope that this will serve as an introduction to the amazing variety of Mexican and Latin American rock from that era. This is the missing chapter in the global history of Rock & Roll. The, fuzz and fury of rock En Espanol with all the punk and pop elements that make it immediately listenable. Spanish interpretations of classic American and British songs that became popular around the world.

Much of this music has been extremely hard to find and often never reissued since the original vinyl release, with collectors combing record bins, garage sales, eBay with some actually traveling to the country of origin to find these vinyl rarities. Here it is in one comprehensive collection with super rare album covers for virtually every artist in this deluxe box.

In this spectacular collection, you will find unique interpretations of Wooly Bully , Hey Joe , You Really Got Me , These Boots Are Made For Walkin and that s just on the first CD. Javier Batiz s rendition of Tijuana Sun ( California Sun ) is a Latin classic You ll also be amazed at how many songs you recognize from their Spanish translations. The liner notes by Randall Wood are comprehensive and extensive and each track is annotated with the year of original release, group members, their instruments, super rare photos, LP jackets and background information on each group. You ll also enjoy station ID s and commercials, en Espanol.

I'll give you my opinion, but throw a little realism in.

I love it.....but it's a biased garage opinion. It's well put together and sounds very good considering the sources. You can't tell from the tracklisting on the top post, but alot of the songs are cover versions sung in Spanish....lots of Beatles, Stones and other 60s hits.....there's 2 different versions of The Four Tops' "Reach Out I'll Be There.". Some nice originals too. It's all pretty funny low-fi fun. Each discs sprinkles in old (funny sounding) Spanish jingle commercials for Coca-Cola, Wolkswagon, and other stuff, making the CDs feel like a radio program sometimes. Very informative book with good writeup on each song / pictures of the singles or albums.

At the same time, it's greared towards garage rock fanatics/collectors. If you don't play Nuggets I, II, SF, LA (Where The Action Is), or other compilations/albums by garage artists, you probably won't play this too much. I love it, and am glad someone put this out.

I went to YouTube and found all of the Kinks covers on the box set for a Ray Davies message board. This will give you a general idea of what this set sounds like.

There is also a single disc sampler of this set that contains a track or 2 not on the 4 cd set, This might be a good way to see if you like it or not. Some of it is a little more pop or beat sounding but still good. If you like this, I would suggest picking up an early compilation by Los Salvajes a great Spanish garage band.

Personally, I think it's great and was always hoping someone would release a Nuggets type set of Spanish garage music.

I would also recommend Algo Salvaje - A single disc compilation of Spanish beat and garage music - Some of the bands on Los Nuggetz also appear on Algo Salvaje. They are releasing a second volume of Algo Salvaje later this month.
