as sigur rós revealed in yesterday’s live q&a, the band is currently in a studio in los angeles mixing a new album, due for release in 2013. more details to come soon.
answering questions from fans, sigur rós also confirmed that kjartan has departed from the band: “yes he has left the band. he said he spent half his life in the band and it was time to do something different. (…) he wanted to do other kinds of music. good for him.”

Updated Amazon pre-order links... a deluxe edition is also forthcoming, but no details are yet available. The deluxe edition is vinyl only and now linked in the first post.
"Hryggjarsula" and "Ofbirta" are slated for bonus tracks on the Japanese release.
