I see that EMI in the UK have released a 2-disc anthology of Bobbie Gentry's Capital recordings, including my favourite song of hers ("But I Can't Get Back" never before on CD, as far as I know) from the underrated singer-songwriter masterpiece PATCHWORK. It seems they have also released her entire catalogue on iTunes. What is up with that? Don't people collect music on anything real anymore? I for one, want something tangible, with artwork, and notes, etc. It's no wonder that music seems so disposable nowadays.

I think you'll find plenty of "grumpy old men" (and women) here who agree with you, Patrick. I'm still fuming about Herb Alpert choosing to reissue several of his long-OOP albums only via iTunes. Pitiful.

Kim Fowley, of all people, will also have his catalog on download-only. Strategic and tactical mistake.

Here's the compilation that Patrick is referring to:

>> 2007 double CD collection from the singer/songwriter best known for the hit 'Ode To Billie Joe'. Thank you Linda for the info. Looks like a good complement to the 23 track Shout released.
Ah yes I join as a grumpy older collector on download only albums...a disgrace for us.
