There is rumour (so stated because I've not received any info on this as of yet) that the new Billy Joel album called All My Life will be released on March 6. Thanks to all that have sent email to me concerning this title. The reports are pretty good so I'm sure that this is valid. It also is noted that Phil Ramone has produced. Sounds suspiciously like a covers album or something like that.

Someone posted a link to listen to the title track on the Hoffman board. I haven't heard it yet, it's an original he wrote for his wife. Sounds like it might be a big band tune from what they're saying about it over there. And they're not very enthusiastic about it either...

Billy Joel "All My Life" free promo-only CD single + 3 bonus tracks

This promo-only single is available free with purchase of any Billy Joel CD. This single looks exactly like the cover pictured below except it says "All My Life and more" on the cover, and it includes 3 Live Bonus tracks, in addition to the studio recording of "All My Life".

The 3 Live Bonus tracks are:
"You're My Home"
"Honesty"
"Stilletto"

ALL were recorded at Madison Square Garden NYC and likely were live tracks recently recorded for (but not included on) 12 Gardens Live, Billy Joel's recent live 2CD set.

BTW... though Borders prefers customers to buy a Joel CD to obtain this promo single, I didn't.
The discs were lying out in a boxed display on the floor, not behind a counter, and the CD single states "promotional only - not for sale" on the rear cover.
There's no barcode on these, and they don't need to be scanned.
The single comes in a thin cardboard digipak.

These three live tracks are very good, and unfortunately weren't included on the 12 Gardens Live 2CD set. These tracks were often played on the tour.
The single "All My Life" I'm not a big fan of... but even if one doesn't care for this slow song (written for Billy's new wife)... these live tracks certainly make it worthy it to pick this up while you can. "Honesty" is great to hear again!

I paid $1.99 for this last week at BB. On the back it says the same thing "For promotional use only-not for sale" so should thay be selling it?
Mine only had "You're my Home" as an extra track, and came in a jewel case...

*yawn* this song is a real clunker. Shame it came from the same guy who wrote PIANO MAN.

If this version only had two songs total on it, then I saw it at Wal-Mart for sale, also with the promo-only line.

If Wal-Mart is selling it, it must be a legitimate commercial release... and presumably the promo-only line was as error.

I also picked this up for free at Borders this weekend.

For free...this is fantastic (meaning the live tracks). Too bad 'Sleeping With The Television On' bonus was not included as well.

While checking out at J&R today, my "Jimbo CD radar" kicks in, and I can tell that they have stacks of the Billy Joel single on a shelf behind the counter--and I sense that it's the 4-track version. I ask the cashier--a newbie--how do I get one, and she sends me off in search of the floor manager. At this point, I'm not leaving without one. After some negotiations, the manager hands me a free copy. Score!

The 4 track version at j&r? I thought this was a Border's exclusive.

I don't know if it's a Borders exclusive... it wasn't advertised as such.
It was just the only store out here I've seen offering it up.

J&R often gets bonus CD singles and other goodies (posters, t-shirts, even vinyl 45s) to go with new releases. I'm just pleased that I talked my way into a free copy of this single.

The Newbury Comics chain has this longer version of the single, with the live tracks, for free with a coupon that you get from them via e-mail.



Of course now you don't have to be on their list.

Does anyone have any info about this new Billy Joel CD? CD Universe has it listed as due out in April...

I hadn't heard if this is a new full-length studio CD, or some kind of re-tread collection or what...

I did a little housecleaning, we're down to just one thread now.

As to the question at hand, "All My Life" is available as a CD single, with a variety of bonus tracks depending on where you acquire it. I haven't heard anything about a full-length album to follow.

This is a japanese version of the two track CD single that's been out for a while. It's just a more expensive version of what's out. FYI. David
