I didn't realize that Marc's first issue of Flash came out last week. I just read it, and it's really good. I haven't read a Flash comic in years, or even many Titans comics. So, Bart Allen is Flash now.

Spoiler: show
Did Wally die too, or is that a big spoiler?

AnyWAN else reading Flash, or plan to start, now that there's a new writer? Anyway, I thought I'd start a thread here at IMWAN since Marc can't do any self-promotion at his usual haunt, and he seems like a good guy. Has anyone invited him here before?
I don't know about Marc's comics stuff, but I find myself looking forward to Sunday nights on ABC and catching BROTHERS AND SISTERS, which Marc has a hand in.

As for your spoiler, that happened in infinite crisis.

Spoiler: show
basically, in Infinite Crisis, Bart and Wally (and wally's family) disappeared when they took on Superboy Prime, and somehow with Barry or barry's soul, kept him prisoner. They were on an lternate earth keeping Prime prisoner. 4 years passed, which is why Bart grew up. Prime escaped. Barry tells Wally to absorb the entire speed force to beat Prime back there. Bart volunteers to go back to regular DC earth by doing it, because Wally has a family and it might kill him. So they gave Bart barry's costume. Wally apparently is living in peace on an alternate reality with his family and Barry-or some form of Barry from the timestream or Barry's soul, I am not sure.
Marc does seem like a really good guy. I had checked out the first couple of issues of the new Flash and hated it, but now that I know Marc is the writer I will give it another try.

I've been following the new FLASH volume since it started, and Marc's first issue was a breath of fresh air. Very promising start.

I dropped the new Flash title because I found it terrible. Maybe I'll take a second whiff. There's something I like about Marc.

Am I inferring correctly that Marc Guggenheim was a JBF member? If so, I don't remember interacting with him, or anything about his posts there.

I too gave the new FLASH series a try, but, um, hated it a lot. I doubt that I'll ever pick it up again, unless Wally comes back. Bart does nothing for me.

Marc was indeed a frequent poster. Remember, he's a TV writer? He would post a bit when he would have an episode coming up.

And the point of this thread is that he just took over Flash. The suckiness that went before is a documented historical fact.

Guggenheim was there frequently.

I have to say, I don't get why Flash is considered so terrible. DOn't get me wrong-i found it extremely mediocre. But not horrible.

A stench with a large dose of suck added for good measure.

Marc Guggenheim, if you're reading this, the pressure's off, buddy!

I liked Guggenheim's first issue, but I'd really like to see the Mark Waid "I'm the Flash" style go away for a few issues (I think every writer since Waid has used it in every issue since Waid left).

I just looked up Marc on IMDB, and I know now why I have no memory of his posting about his TV work: I've never seen any of the shows for which he has written.

I think so. He started a thread asking for volunteers to get "whacked" in one of his comics.

He wrote a LAW & ORDER where "John Byrne" was the dead guy.

If I'm not mistaken, that was also Jerry Orbach's last episode.

Yep, the 14th season finale, aka the Lenny Brisko retirement episode, aka the "That John Byrne was a dog!" episode.

Yes, I recalled correctly that Marc Guggenheim was going to kill again!

http://www.byrnerobotics.com/forum/foru ... ?TID=17518

On a related note, I watched "Brothers & Sisters" last night for the first time. Good show. It was part two of a two parter, "Mistakes Were Made". Co-written my Marc, I think. I had no problem catching up with it, and was drawn right in to the story. Good stuff. I'll be back.

Marc just joined IMWAN, so let's bump this thread and perhaps he'll want to add some thoughts to it.
