Which space opera is best---the "Wagon Train to the stars" or the one with the astro-samurai?

I'll go with Star Trek.
It didn't have terrible prequels.

Trek is the best. After Empire, Star wars started sliding thanks to Lucas and with the prequels, it became more of a joke than anything else. Disney taking over may just be the best thing to happen to the franchise in a long time and it deserves some decent stories.

I gotta go with Star Trek. Hell, I only like two of the Star Wars movies.

It's pretty tough for me -- on paper, Star Wars should get my vote. I love the universe its set in, with wildly different and unique alien species, more action, and the whole concept of the Jedi Knight.
Yet, when you look at which one has produced the better stories, it's easily Star Trek. So, Star Trek.

I think as *concepts* and characters, they're pretty much neck and neck. Yeah, it's the production (Lucas) that lets down the side. that's why I'm very curious as to what Disney will do with it without Lucas having too much of a hand.

"Star Trek," because I loved "Wrath of Khan" better than any of the "Star Wars" movies--even "Empire Strikes Back."

Roddenberry beats Lucas. Experienced writer beats big-idea filmmaker.

Star Wars. Even without the new movies coming out I still would've voted for the story that happened a long time ago.
