JJ Abrams on directing third 'Star Trek' movie: 'It's a possibility'
JJ Abrams has refused to rule out making another Star Trek movie.
Abrams, the creator of TV shows like Lost and Alias, successfully rebooted the franchise with 2009's Star Trek, which received overwhelmingly positive reviews from film critics and grossed over $385 million (£250 million) worldwide. He has also directed the highly-anticipated sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, which opens in UK cinemas next month (May).
Back in January, though, Abrams landed an even bigger job: directing the new Star Wars movie. Disney has slated it for release in 2015, which could make committing to a third Star Trek film difficult.
However, the director has insisted he could potentially make both movies. Asked whether Star Wars counts him out of Star Trek 3, Abrams told Playboy: "No. I would say it's a possibility. We're trying to figure out the next step. But it's like anything: It all begins with the story."
Zachary Quinto says ‘Star Trek 3' will shoot next year, Abrams may direct and more
At a special public interview at the 2013 Galway Film Fleadh on Friday, July 12, Zachary Quinto discussed his illustrious career and his roles in Star Trek, Heroes and American Horror Story. BuzzHub had a front-row seat, and witnessed first hand what Quinto had to say about his current and future projects, including some revealing and intriguing information!
When asked about his role as Spock in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek films, Quinto told the audience:
Quote:
Star Trek 3 should be filming, I suppose, next year. It’s going to be made a lot quicker than the last one. That’s the plan, although nothing is confirmed yet.
He was also asked if he would want to reunite with Abrams and appear in Star Wars Episode VII, and he said he would not, without giving a particular reason.
At one point in the interview, Quinto mentioned that J.J. Abrams was planning to direct Star Trek 3, which is another surprising fact, but once again, he did not elaborate.
Zachary Quinto has barely had a career, much less an "illustrious" one. Yeesh.
Indeed. Especially when you are watching Star Trek, and someone goes: "That's the bad guy from Heroes" instead of "It's acting superstar with an illustrious career, Zachary Quinto!"

notably or brilliantly outstanding because of dignity or achievements or actions
He was the best thing in Heroes and he resembles his Earth 2 counterpart closer than anyone else in Nu Trek (with the exception of McCoy). So I'm going to allow the illustrious comment for now.
The last gap was 4 years so this one being 3 years is at least more in line with a lot of these franchises. I like a two year gap better but ah, well. Plus, since there's no need for a "The Search for...." with anyone anyone being dead, they can skip right to the re-doing of the whales in the next one. The best is that having taken the measure of the first two flicks, I can wait for any and all future ones as rentals.
That's just too long between movies, again, IMO. When you're doing franchises, 3-4 years between "parts" is too long.
It will be recast and rebooted again after this third movie.
In ten years franchises will be rebooted twice within a single movie.
You joke, but it's true. On set disputes will result in Jamie Foxx replacing Don Cheadle as War Machine halfway through Iron Man 7, with Terrence Howard reprising his role by the end.
They need to re-do the one with V'Ger (so they can have the bald android chick) and somehow combine it with the whale one and with the one where Spock's fully Vulcan older brother is some sort of hippie guru with his own cult.
