That bonus disc is lame. Instead of including the whole show that those songs were taken from, it's just the songs from "Sports." There are also 12" mixes that should've been included, either on the main or bonus disc. EMI really dropped the ball with this. I'll stick with my original CD pressing.
I was hoping to see them at the Tarrytown Music Hall but I couldn't justify the cost. The cheapest tix are something like $59, and they go up to around $120. The place is nice but it's not terribly comfortable (especially the tiny seats) and the sound system is average. Glad I saw Huey & The News in the early '90s. That was an excellent show. I'm glad they're finally getting some critical acclaim and it's okay to admit you like them again.

I agree about this release lacking those cool 12" mixes. The best place to hear those is the import title called "Super Selection" from Japan. In addition to the extended mixes of the various Sports singles, it has "Power of Love" and "Back in Time" which are included in their special dance mixes. But my favorite of them all is the "Heart and Soul" dance mix. It rocks so hard and the way the instruments are highlighted in the breakdown is genius. One of the best rock dance mixes you will hear.

Indeed. The "Heart And Soul" dance mix is one of my favorite 12" mixes. It's brilliant! This 30th anniversary edition is yet again another missed opportunity to include the 12" mixes: The Heart Of Rock & Roll [London/Tokyo Extended Version] Heart And Soul [Dance Mix] I Want A New Drug [Dance Mix]
Fortunately, I have a lossless copy of the "Super Selections" Japan EP for these tracks. It would still be nice to have an official remaster of the 12" mixes, however.
Perhaps, as an added bonus, the 12" mixes of "The Power Of Love" and "Back In Time" could have been included as well ... unless we, at some point, get a reissue of the "Back To The Future" soundtrack (in which they could be included).
Hopefully, this is a new 2013 remaster and not the awful, bass-laden 1999 remaster.

Were there distinct 45 mixes for any of the hit singles?
I believe that "The Heart Of Rock & Roll" and "Walking On A Thin Line" were both edited for their 45 releases. Perhaps someone else can confirm that these are the only two edited for their single releases. The edit of "The Heart Of Rock & Roll" appears on 2006's "Greatest Hits".
For anyone here who didn't click through the link that Greg posted, it's also available on YouTube so I'm embedding it below. Saw it last week and loved it.

Wow, the bonus disc is even worse than I originally thought, with only one song recorded during the "Sports" tour. This was a real missed opportunity to create a definitive version of a great album. I'll stick with my original CD pressing.
