According to an article on Alan Parsons in the latest issue of Prog magazine, sometime in 2013 there will be a box set of The Alan Parsons Project that "rounds up the entire APP discography and likely serves as the final word on the band." It also includes "the first release of the hastily recorded 1981 album The Sicilian Defence...strictly a contractual obligation album - all instrumentals and not in the vein of the other albums."

I've heard very mixed reviews on all remasters of his catalog, so I've held on to my original '80s CDs. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these are new...and good...remasters, and since he recently engineered the latest Steven Wilson album, perhaps he'll ask the amazing Mr. Wilson to do some mixing...perhaps even 5.1 surround mixes. I doubt he'll have the time to do the whole APP catalog, but a fan can dream, right?

i think that the remasters were excellent - thank heavens - especially since i bought the entire set as japanese reissues.
i kid you not, it's a beautiful set as miniature LP versions (minus the poster for Pyramid - which would have been a fun tidbit).
even the embossed gold emblem on Eye In The Sky - japan did it right!

i just hope that any new material for this potential box will be available separately as well so that i don't have to repeat purchasing the entire catalog. PLEASE!

I'm not a big fan of the sound quality throughout, but yes, the Japan mini-LPs were excellent. The miniature version of the Stereotomy cover is especially impressive.

I think the original custom record labels should have been replicated on the CDs.
