I was watching Rush's Beyond The Lighted Stage documentary again the other day and it got me to thinking about bands that haven't had documentaries done on them yet. Something beyond the scope of a Behind The Music episode with band member interviews (both past and present), rare footage, etc.

Three immediately come to mind:

The Allman Brothers Band -- It's mind-boggling that one of the great rock and roll soap operas has never been properly documented.

Van Halen -- Ditto.

Led Zeppelin -- Ditto.

Cast your nominees...here!

Bannings: If you're not nice
Big Star (a good one)
Badfinger (a better one)
The Small Faces (more interviews with young Marriott/Lane, less with old McLagan/Jones)
The entire Roy Wood/Jeff Lynne family tree
The Action
The Onlookers
The Prisoners
Dr. Feelgood
Free
The Real People
Edgar "Summertyme" Jones
The La's
Cotton Mather
The Shazam
Many others, I'm sure ....

All great artists who didn't get the respect or success they deserved should have documentaries. There should be a YouTube channel just for that!

It's mostly performances, and it's wonderful, but I've seen snippets of many, many '60s interviews and news reports which I'd love to have in their full, unedited glory.

Since Badfinger already has the not-too-shabby "Badfinger: Director's Cut," my vote would go to the Raspberries. Badfinger deserves a biopic.

Here's one that needs to be made BUT because of the controversy never will and therefore really know what happened.

Bobby Fuller of "I Fought the Law" fame.
