About 20 years ago I got Rhino's "The Best Of Flo & Eddie" CD, and every time I listen to it I love it a little more.

I like a lot of their work with Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention, as well as The Turtles (I only own a Turtles best-of, which is great), but their own recordings seem to be what I love the most from them. I'm sure there must be some big F&E fans here, and I'm trying to figure out if the best-of that I own is sufficient, or if I should get most/all of their albums. It looks like their first four albums are available on two separate 2-CD sets and the prices are reasonable, but if they're padded with filler I may not need to get them. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

And for your listening pleasure, here's their Beach Boys homage, "Keep It Warm":

I love them all....(but I'm biased.) The 2-fers are worth it.
I also like the New York Times Live At The Bottom Line set,,,,,but it gets crazy.

Robert can probably give you a much better answer.

Thanks, Charles. Do you think there are enough great songs on the 2fers that I don't already have on the best-of to make them worth the purchase? And when you say the Bottom Line set "gets crazy," I assume you mean that in a good way, right? Man, I miss The Bottom Line. I think that's my favorite venue of all time, and New York hasn't been the same without it.

I haven't listened to these in awhile....(my CDs are disorganized I haven't been near these in awhile). I looked at the tracklist, and there's definitely great stuff beyond it.....the 2nd album has a GREAT cover of The Kinks' "Days" that isn't on your Rhino.

Gets crazy means bigger on the humor.....drifting more into Zappa territory....I love it, but depends on your threshold. The live parts of "Illegal Immoral, and Fattening" (3rd album) are very Zappa-ish too.

Here's Days.....

Would probably get the 2-fers before the Bottom Line.

(I miss The Bottom Line too)

That's a fantastic version of "Days." Thanks for sharing it. Although the early "funny" Mothers albums aren't up there with my favorite Zappa albums, I do enjoy them (especially the Fillmore East album), so I probably wouldn't have a problem with the F&E "crazy" material.
