The thing that killed the Grammys for me was awarding the first Hard Rock/Metal Grammy to Jethro Tull. Did they even listen to "Crest Of A Knave"? (Which I really like, but definitely does not fit the category.)

Yep. I love awards shows, especially yelling at the TV when my choice doesn't win. The Grammys usually provide a couple of memorable performances.

I've never cared about them. And why does the entertainment world ALWAYS have to congratulate itself in such public ways? It must be some life- going to awards shows and being awarded for nothing of any real importance all of the time.

I have sworn off all awards shows. Too much time wasting and teasing the late awards.

Not with today's supposed stars. I'll tape it in case anything good happens and watch Downton Abbey on PBS and then The Walking Dead on AMC.
Who the heck cares who wins Best Record these days? Even today's kids don't care. I do wonder who will win Best Surround Recording though. Steven Wilson?

Don't care who wins at the Grammys, the American Music Awards, the MTV Music Awards, the Brits, the Oscars, the Felixes, or the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Pretty sure I haven't missed a Grammy show since Simon & Garfunkel won for "Mrs. Robinson."

Not much. I record it and zip through it for the 10% I might enjoy.

In 1985 I was dating a girl who was a true film buff. When the Oscars were on that year I dutifully watched them so we'd have something to talk about the next day. They ran late (don't they always?) and I had a hard time staying awake through all the self-congratulation, lame jokes,etc., but somehow I made it through. The next day I asked her what she thought of the show and she said, "Oh, I turned it off about halfway through."

That was the last complete awards show I ever watched.

I'm often entertained by lists of past Grammy winners, but in the worst possible way:

No, it's a huge joke to me.

Unless a band I like wins.

I don't care about who wins the awards, but I always enjoy some of the performances.

I once loved pop music but its largely been ruined with horrible production and too much rapping for the sake of having someone rap in the song. So the Grammys don't mean that much to me any more. No Pure Pop For Now People anymore.

Btw.......a band named Fun is your Best New Artist.

Watched it on DVR. Painful for me.
