From ultimateclassicrock.com:
The old man down the road, Mr. John Fogerty, is working on an album featuring new recordings of some of his old classics, with a new twist.
Named after the Creedence Clearwater Revival classic ‘Wrote A Song For Everyone,’ the new album will feature Fogerty revamping some old material with new hands on deck. Some of those famous friends along for this project include Foo Fighters, who join in on ‘Fortunate Son’ and Bob Seger on ‘Who’ll Stop The Rain.’ Other contributors include Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, My Morning Jacket, Alan Jackson, and Miranda Lambert with more to be announced. All involved are reportedly big Fogerty fans. (Well… duh! Who isn’t?)
Word has it that not only will the album feature some of the more obvious hits, but will also delve into some of Forgerty’s more obscure material as well. And if that weren’t enough to whet your appetite, there is talk of brand-new material being put into the mix here as well.
With participants from the worlds of rock, pop and country taking part in this celebration of one of America’s greatest rock and roll songwriters, it should be an interesting ride through some of Fogerty’s catalog. Vanguard Records are planning the release date sometime this fall.

It struck us as a natural fit when news broke last month that John Fogerty was going to re-record his old songs with some famous friends lending a hand. After all, his catalog, both as a member of Creedence Clearwater Revival and as a solo act, is as loved as anybody’s in rock history, and it continues to reach new generations of fans. In a recent interview, he gave a few details about ‘Wrote a Song for Everyone,’ including cutting ‘Who’ll Stop the Rain’ with Bob Seger.
“I heard him sitting in a little corner, strumming his guitar and singing ‘Who Will Stop the Rain?’ Fogerty told Rolling Stone. “He just sounded so great, he almost sort of inflicted an arrangement choice almost immediately. It was sort of spontaneous. I said, ‘We gotta hear what you’re doing right now at some point in how we’re treating this song.’ So that’s certainly part of the arrangement.”
Fogerty, who will perform entire CCR albums on his upcoming Canadian tour, isn’t only working with his fellow classic rockers. Country stars like Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert make appearances, as do Foo Fighters, who brought their own style to ‘Fortunate Son.’
“What a great band,” Fogerty continued. “It was outstanding to be there and play music that day. It’s not wildly different or exotically different from the original, but energy-wise it’s a lot closer to what the Foo Fighters sound like, just the swagger of thing.”
‘Wrote a Song for Everyone’ will be released on Vanguard Records in the fall.

John Fogerty has set a May 28th release date for his new duets album, Wrote A Song For Everyone, and revealed details about the effort. Fogerty produced the album where he is joined by various rock and country music stars as he revisits classic songs from his musical history.
The album features new versions of past songs where he is joined by Kid Rock, Foo Fighters, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Bob Seger, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band and more.
Fogerty told American Songwriter for their latest cover story, "I encouraged each of these artists to come up with their own vision of my song, rather than just redoing what I'd recorded in the past. I was hoping they'd have some different twist so it would be fresh, so I'd have to work, too. I wanted it to be something new."
One of the new versions of a classic Creedence Clearwater Revival song "Born On The Bayou" features Kid Rock and was used by the NFL Network cover of Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans.
Wrote a Song for Everyone tracklisting: 1. Fortunate Son (with Foo Fighters) 2. Almost Saturday Night (with Keith Urban) 3. Lodi (with Shane Fogerty and Tyler Fogerty) 4. Mystic Highway (John Fogerty solo) 5. Wrote a Song for Everyone (with Miranda Lambert) 6. Bad Moon Rising (with Zac Brown Band) 7. Long As I Can See the Light (with My Morning Jacket) 8. Born on the Bayou (with Kid Rock) 9. Train of Fools (John Fogerty solo) 10. Someday Never Comes (with Dawes) 11. Who'll Stop the Rain (with Bob Seger) 12. Hot Rod Heart (with Brad Paisley) 13. Have You Ever Seen the Rain (with Alan Jackson) 14. Proud Mary (with Jennifer Hudson feat. Allen Toussaint and the Rebirth Brass Band)
John Fogerty plans to tour in support of the album this year and will be appearing at this year's SXSW in Austin (dates/events TBA).

don't any of our old heroes write anything new anymore?
a musician once told me that most musicians just have a certain amount of songs inside them...I didn't believe him but I am now beginning to.
Folks like Dylan, Jagger, Richards, Young seem to be the exception...
or maybe they know they cannot compete with their past.
