Crystal Bowersox of 'Idol' to Drop Second Album in March

The wait is over for fans of "American Idol" alum Crystal Bowersox, who will release her second studio album in March through her new label, Shanachie Entertainment.

The season nine runner-up will record tracks in "either Nashville or Los Angeles," according to a press release. Bowersox is currently working with collaborators such as Steve Berlin of Los Lobos (Rickie Lee Jones, Sheryl Crow, Raul Malo, Crash Test Dummies, John Lee Hooker, etc) as well as special guest Jakob Dylan. Producers for the record are in the process of being selected and the material will feature mostly originals.

"On American Idol, Crystal Bowersox stood out as a real singer with a big voice who made an emotional connection with the audience, similar to the way Adele does," s "Yet we feel the true depth of her talent as a singer and songwriter has not yet been fully exposed, and we look forward to achieving that with her new album."

The Ohio native's previous release, "Farmer's Daughter," was released in 2010 to positive critical acclaim. The record tackled themes of childhood abuse, love and life struggles. That same year, she married Brian Walker and settled into a life that she said has more of a "sense of balance."

Bowersox said her new outlook will be "evident in my new material" and believes that Shanachie is "a good fit for me and my music."

"I am happy to join the label's growing list of critically acclaimed and well-respected recording artists. I am really looking forward to working on this new project," said the 27-year old singer. "My career is really still in its infancy and the possibilities are limitless. This will be my second studio album and I'm excited to see what happens. The silvery residue from Idol has faded a bit and now it's all about what's true and real in my world. I'm paying way more attention to the things that really matter and making more of my decisions based in kindness and love. My son has taught me so much about that, how strong I can be, even in my weakest moments."

And what did Bowersox learn from her Idol experience? Plenty, she said.

"I've learned that you're not allowed to wear the same outfit twice on television and I've also learned not to burp and curse so loudly in public," she said. "But best of all, I've learned that forgiveness starts with forgiving and accepting yourself as you are, it makes it easier to accept others as they are. I've learned that as you grow older, time becomes more precious than it's ever been, so don't sweat the small stuff."

Crystal Bowersox never thought Movin' On would make one of her albums.

"If you heard the original demo, I did everything on it, and I think I was drunk and it was 3 in the morning," says the former American Idol runner-up, who will release her second album, All That for This, on March 26." I think that's why I didn't think it would ever be cut."

But producer Steve Berlin saw something in the bluesy number that Bowersox didn't.

"Steve heard the demo, which is completely different from the way it turned out, and he heard the potential in that song," Bowersox says. "So we just went with that."

All That for This also contains a remake of The Sundays' 1990 hit Here's Where the Story Ends and a duet with Wallflowers frontman Jakob Dylan called Stitches. Bowersox debuted the video for another of the album's songs, Dead Weight, on Monday,
