A truly talented individual who has crafted pages upon pages upon pages of amazing comic adventures. Everyone here has to appreciate that.
Way to go, Uncle Rog!

With all due respect to Stan Lee...
Roger Stern is my favorite scribe who has ever graced the pages of Marvel Comics.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Stern in Ohio at Mid Ohio 2000. He was nothing but generous and the nicest professional I've ever encountered, and I've ran across some nice guys over the years.
I've read tons of stuff, with tons still to go. I still haven't found any clunkers.

It goes Stan, Roger, and then a couple of steps down before you get to the next crop of talent. Love Roger Stern -- future Spider-books editor...the campaign starts now!*
*I'd said EiC of Marvel, but given his thoughts on that job...

Roger is a good egg. I want that JLA Classified story in my hands, yesterday! Serge wrote: I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Stern in Ohio at Mid Ohio 2000. Geez, Serge, MOC '00, Heroes Con last year. We've apparently been in the same room together at least twice, and didn't know it.

Roger Stern's work on Spider-Man run is second only to Stan Lee. Yeah, I said it.

Hopefully that deters no one.

The Big Three on Spider-Man are Stan Lee, Roger Stern and J.M. DeMatteis. The Big Three on Avengers are Stan Lee, Roger Stern and Roy Thomas. The Big Three on Dr. Strange are Stan Lee, Roger Stern and...I dunno, probably Roger Stern again. Hats off to a real class act, and a top-notch talent.

AND he is apparently the inspiration for Dr. Nick Riviera. Who knew?

Did he use the Black Knight's Ebony Blade to do it?

It was a team effort. The Ebony Blade was used for the incision, Hawkeye's arrows to spear the kidney, Captain America's shield to scoop it out, and Captain Marvel's light powers to seal the wound.
Everyone helped except for Hercules. He just drank a lot of beer and screwed my wife while I was on the operating table.

I have read very little by Mr Stern - only the Captain America run he did with Byrne and a few other things (did he write that brilliant Hulk/Sasquatch stand off? And the Hulk Annual with Byrne too?) He was just starting as I was leaving - as were people like Mark Gruenwald and Steven Grant(?was it?) I seem to have missed a new golden era in comics when I left, by all accounts. What would be a good starting place on Roger's work for me?
