Western? I think of it as a Christmas musical.

Only seen two of these.Oklahoma has the better songs,so it goes my vote, but The Phantom Empire is so boldly weird;it blazed trails none can follow.

Oklahoma! is considered one of the greatest Broadway musicals ever. I don't know how good or bad the movie adaptations were but I don't think the other films are in the same class.

If loggers count as Western, then Seven Brides; see a woman ya like, just take her. Does't Cat Ballou count as a musical? And Zachariah featured the James Gang... She didn't sing much in it, but Shirley Temple's Wee Willie Winkie DID have lots of Indians in it......... (AND it was directed by John Ford)

Beachy the Kid just named two great ones. Not a musical, but we wore the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid album out in our house.

I was not aware that Best Western did Dinner Theater. We'll have to stay at one during our next road trip! I hope they're doing either My Fair Lady, Fiddler, or West Side Story!

Would Cannibal The Musical count? It was set during the western years.
