No date yet, but coming soon. Not a very good album, but I like half of it. Rainbow should've reformed-Joe Lynn Turner was just not a good fit for DP at all. Still, some things were good here. I saw the tour and it was OK. I assume this another Friday Music release where we don't really know if Joe Reagoso did the remastering or if it's from an overseas source. "Slow Down Sister" is a killer b-side and better tham most of the album.

From fridaymusic.com:
Since 1968, Deep Purple has been one of the finest iconic bands in all of rock music. While delivering a plethora of top selling albums and sold out tours year after year, the quintet has been a mainstay and quite frankly a force that its fans could always count on. Even with its several legendary line-ups over the years, the consistency of each of its important members has been nothing more than extraordinary, which leads us to the brilliant Slaves And Masters album from 1990.
Featuring the Mark V line up of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice, the late Jon Lord, Roger Glover and new addition hard rocker Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Fandango), Slaves And Masters was a nice way to kick in a new decade with this one time configuration. Most notably hard rocking tracks like Fire In The Basement, King Of Dreams and the international hit power ballad Love Conquers All helped make this a much played album at rock radio from day one of its release. Even through all their well-documented changes over the years, Deep Purple as reigning kings of hard rock and heavy metal shined through on this album. It’s easy to hear why... the familiarity of the band was still there with its guitar shredding maestro Ritchie Blackmore, the powerful drum sound of Ian Paice, Jon Lord’s iconic keyboard work, Roger Glover’s slammin’ bass, and Joe Lynn Turner’s hard rockin’ vocals, Slaves And Masters was a winning affair.
Friday Music has been reissuing most of Deep Purple's catalog for several years, and it is our pleasure to continue that tradition with the wonderful Slaves And Masters/The Deluxe Edition. The hard rockin’ nine song masterwork is now expanded with two rarities Slow Down Sister (B side of Love Conquers All 12” & 45) and the hard to find 45 edit of Love Conquers All as well as including rare RCA label memorabilia to enhance your listening experience. Rock on!

From hennemusic.com:
On February 5th, Friday Music will release the Deluxe Edition of Deep Purple's “Slaves And Masters,” the only album featuring former Rainbow/Fandango singer Joe Lynn Turner.
Now remastered, the album features two rare bonus tracks: “Slow Down Sister” (B side of “Love Conquers All” 12” and 45) and the hard to find 45 edit of “Love Conquers All”, as well as including rare RCA label memorabilia.
According to the press release: "Featuring the Mark V line up of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice, the late Jon Lord, Roger Glover and new addition hard rocker Joe Lynn Turner, ‘Slaves And Masters’ was a nice way to kick in a new decade with this one time configuration. Most notably hard rocking tracks like 'Fire In The Basement', 'King Of Dreams' and the international hit power ballad 'Love Conquers All' helped make this a much played album at rock radio from day one of its release. The project is the second of ten in the band’s reissue series, which kicks off January 29 with “Live In Paris 1975” – read about that project here.

It says this is the 2nd of 10 in the series-I wonder what the others are? My guess would be all those semi-official live albums like the one mentioned Live In Paris-1975.
I would get a remastered The Battle Rages On-I like a lot of that album. Would be nice to hear the tracks Turner recorded before Gillan returned but no way Friday Music would have those.

It's cool that Friday Music is doing this, because if you asked me if a deluxe version of this album would ever come out, I would have just shook my head.

May need to revisit it, but never got into this one. I think I've only purchased it on vinyl & no longer own it.

I agree Doc-this is a nice surprise. I only had it on cassette when it came out in 1990. I saw the tour in 1991 and JLT was not the right fit at all. I will get this and I remember liking about half of it and "King Of Dreams" was a big radio/MTV hit. Calling this "deluxe" with 2 bonus cuts is a bit much but typical of Friday Music.

It's relative to its status as a Deep Purple album. Like I said before, "King Of Dreams" reminded me of Rainbow. Good song, but I don't think of it when I think of classic Purple cuts.

I think most fans wondered why DP didn't disband and Rainbow didn't reform but I'd imagine the DP carried more clout in 1990. The first choice was actually Jimi Jamison of Survivor but he couldn't get out of his record deal even though Survivor had just disbanded. Knowing that, it's obvious DP were going into a more melodic, commercial AOR vein and I guess Turner made sense since he sang that style so well. But it wasn't really right for DP.

My (old) memory is that the songwriting was weak.

It would be nice to have a properly remixed version of TBRO, the mix on the released version was atrocious. I have a bootleg with some early mixes of tracks like Anya that have to be heard to be believed...
