Pick the one you think makes for the best Spider-Man.

I always liked that Ditko's Spider-MAN was actually a kid.

The 100-issues-proud Bendis Ultimate teenager has to fall under "another not listed"?

If do you vote for "another version", please say which one as Stephen did. I was just thinking in terms of the real Marvel Universe, but even cartoon and movie versions of Spidey are legitimate choices.

I mostly recall the Spider-Man of the late 1970s and early 1980s. IIRC he spent at least part of the time in graduate school or something.
Wonder if anybody is going to go with the six-armed version, just to be different?

I like Romita's college Spider-Man.

The original, Lee/Ditko character is the right answer. They created a comic book archetype, even if it's one I don't like.
But the only version I actually enjoy is Slott's, which is the only natural outgrowth of that character.

I like Romita's but Ditko's right there too.
Also, Rafael sucks.

I think the only Slott Spider-Man I read was the Spider-Island hardcover. The art prevented me from enjoying it much, I'm afraid.

Preferably teenager;college student is fine, but no older than early 20s.Peter Parker is a character that should be eternally young, like Peter Pan or Charlie Brown or Bart Simpson. They're not meant for adulthood.

Of course, it was Ben Reilly the cloned Spider-man who got my vote.

I have to go with mid 80's. Marvel Team up, Stern, Hobgoblin..perfect.

Ditko is the best, but I gotta go with the Ross Andru period. That was my golden age for comics via UK reprints, so I was around 12 years old. I still remember an afternoon laying on my bed reading a big pile of Spider-Man Comics Weekly, and after however long it was, looking up, and having to adjust to "reality" I was so immersed in my comic world
