The new album by Steven Wilson The Raven that Refused to Sing (and other stories) will be released on Kscope on 25th February. The album was written between January-July and recorded in Los Angeles in September with Steven's current band line up of Guthrie Govan - lead guitar, Nick Beggs - bass guitar, Marco Minnemann - drums, Adam Holzman - keyboards, Theo Travis - saxophone / flute, and engineered by legendary producer/engineer Alan Parsons. The 6 tracks on the album are all based on stories of the supernatural, and the deluxe 4 disc edition comes in the form of a 128 page hardback book containing lyrics and ghost stories illustrated by Hajo Mueller. In addition to the deluxe edition there will be regular CD, CD/DVDV media book, Blu-Ray and 2LP vinyl editions, with the DVDV and Blu-ray editions featuring a 5.1 mix of the album and other bonus material.

Track listing:
1. Luminol (12.10) * see video below
2. Drive Home (7.37)
3. The Holy Drinker (10.13)
4. The Pin Drop (5.03)
5. The Watchmaker (11.43)
6. The Raven that Refused to Sing (7.57)

Would love the get the deluxe edition, but I can't justify the expense. Will have to settle for the CD+DVD edition. Can't wait to hear this.

I've ordered the deluxe set (for collecting purposes) and will also probably get the stand alone Blu-ray to play in the house.

I need to start playing the SW & PT I have. What little I've played has been real good, but I haven't gotten to much of it yet.

Am I wrong, or is there no option for a CD + Blu-Ray? Now that I have a Blu-Ray player, that would be my format of choice for surround sound and additional content, but I still would want a CD to play when I'm not at home.

Geff, which SW & PT albums do you own? There really are no clunkers in his/their catalog, but there are definitely some I prefer over others.

At this point its either CD+DVDV or go for the deluxe with CD+Blu-ray and a DVDV.

The CD+DVDV and the stand alone Blu-ray are priced competitvely at $17.50 each. The deluxe set with the book and the other goodies is a bit expensive for most at $72.

Got a ticket to Steve's NYC concert yesterday. He will perform the new album in its entirety. Super excited to get to see him live up close once again. Maybe he will have a CD signing in NYC somewhere that day like last time.

I have a feeling if I ever find the time to listen to the PT & SW albums I've accumulated in the past year, he'll have a new fan!

Bump: I've added the general release pre-order links to the first post. So far Amazon only shows the CD, Blu-ray and vinyl, not deluxe or combo editions (which might not get general releases at all).

I ordered a CD and the Blu-ray thru Amazon. And I will get the deluxe set via Burning Shed. Yes I'm crazy about Steven Wilson.
Now I just need him to have a NYC signing and get all 3 signed. :)

I got a copy of this CD today. I'm in the middle of track 3 right now and I just couldn't wait to share my love for this album. Even if the last three songs consist of Steven Wilson scratching a chalkboard, it would still be an amazing record. Based on the first three songs, it's the most traditionally prog-rock album he's done in a long time, with lots of jazz-fusion thrown in for good measure. It's also his most accessible solo album of the three he's released so far. I will have to get a copy of the Blu-Ray to hear this thing in surround sound.

Addendum to my original comment:
I've now listened to the whole album and it's wonderful from start to finish. I have a few other new CDs to play, but I can't wait to give this another listen. His band is, unsurprisingly, amazing. Can't wait to hear what others think about it.

I still haven't heard a note of it yet (even though you can download it on the net). I want to experience it with fresh ears on e I do put it on (hopefully on Bluray). :)

They are packing the deluxe editions right now at Burning Shed.

John, I can almost guarantee (as if I need to do so) that you will be blown away by this album. The CD sounds (unsurprisingly) amazing...I guess that guy Alan Parsons knows what he's doing...and the songs are up there with some of his best work. Would love to get that deluxe edition, but I need to use my music-spending budget on other things. Please describe the contents when you get it.

The CD/DVD Media Book Edition set is now up for pre-order at Amazon too, so I've added that link to the first post.

I have to agree with Rich; this is that good. My only small bitch is I'm hearing an mp3 leak, & whoever mastered the mp3 did a very poor job. I'm assuming the hi rez editions will cure that.

The music is stunning.

Am playing a lossless edition at the moment. While I haven't yet gone as deep into SW & PT's catalog as some here; this is definitely the best of his releases that I've ever heard. I will be buying the high res edition when it comes out; this is really good.

My deluxe edition should be here any day now. I've ordered the Deluxe Book with Blu-ray/ DVD, stand alone Blu-ray, CD version and the download from iTunes for my IPOD.

And I picked up this months version of Prog Magazine with Steven Wilson on the cover. Inside is a CD with songs from Steven Wilson (Luminol), Riverside, Lifesigns and a few other new Prog groups. Highly Recommended.

Got the deluxe set this evening from Burning Shed, the package had a rough trip over the pond so one corner got a little small dent so that sucks for the anal. It's sold out so that's that it if you didn't order.

The book and packaging is fantastic. Could easily be a coffee table book that would impress anyone. Inside is the CDs/ DVD and Blu-rays. 4 discs in total.

Tuesday I will get from Amazon the stand alone Blu-ray Disc and the regular CD that I can play in the car. I guess that sometime Monday or Tuesday morning iTunes will load the album in my account right to my portable devices.

Now all I need is the t-shirt and coffee mug. :D
