A friend of a friend has started this company. Since it is comic related, I thought I would ask, do you think this idea will fly? Will people buy these high end frames for their high priced comics?

For that price? I don't see how. $400 per lock frame is pretty much ludicrous, IMO.

To those few that have comics worth locking in a frame, I suppose. This has to be a pretty small market, but if they keep costs low, I suppose it'd be possible to grow.

Then again, you'd have to expect that if the idea takes off, one of the big comics accessories companies would bite off of the idea.

Whoa, didn't see the price!

I was thinking $80, tops.

I like the look of the frames and at a cheaper price, sure I'd get one for my very expensive comics. That it has a lock and everything doesn't interest me at all.

The locks are made of steel, the rest is aluminum.
The $400 price is not very attractive.

The guy behind it is the same guy I met who has a complete set of X-men with number 1 beging rated 9.0. He claims people in the high end market, such as himself, will pay the price to protect their investment. For that crowd, "$400 is nothing". He also told me that there is a "huge" market for this in Asia where he says many of our top priced collectible comics are going. I don't believe it. I think the price of collectible comics is going to drop out. And in any event, if you truely had a really expensive comic, would you put it in safe or something? It is not as if these frames will deter a real thief.

I also have a complete run of X-Men, though my #1 isn't rated as high. I can afford to buy comics and other things I like because I would never spend $400 on a frame.

I just noticed the pictures in the gallery at the website are from the owner's man cave. It is two rooms, actually. He told me he got into comics because his wife said his toy collection took up too much room. So, he sold it off (mostly, anyway) and got into expensive comics.

I'd wonder how stout the mountings are. Looks like somebody who wanted the item badly enough could pry case and all off of the wall and carry it away to his evil lair to open it at leisure.
