I can't stop thinking about seeing this movie, I'm so excited. I love the book, love the Liam Neeson version from the 1990's

But this one will make it possible to enjoy the music from the Broadway musical alongside cinema magic.

Have you guys seen that extended "making of" trailer they were showing at the movies this fall? They're using a groundbreaking technique for the singing -- the actors were actually miked up during their acting performance, and sang their songs while in character, on set, in costume. It's going to make for a powerful performance.

Honestly, I know what is happening in those snippets, and I get a little choked up just watching the trailers. My kids are really into musicals and performing, so they're looking forward to this too. I'm counting the days to December 28.

I wanted to buy the soundtrack early (sometimes they release them in the weeks prior), but this one is not out until December 26.

My current avatar is from one of the character posters they released for the movie. I may cycle through some of the others.

I saw a fantastic production of his a few years ago at Cherry Hill East High School. Cherry Hill East has $$ and their theater program is bigger than their football program. They had the revolving stage, the separating pile of furniture, and the bridge and wires. A cast of a hundred, beautiful costumes and every student had their own mike for the singing. It was fantastic and rousing and emotional. I'm looking forward to seeing this production.

I know next to nothing about this production but after seeing the incoherent film version of Rice's Phantom I hope this is better than that.

I don't even know who this "Les" guy is, or why they've made a movie about him.

I still associate ALW with Tim Rice.

I'm sure they both would appreciate that.

I do it too! There was a Jeopardy! question the other night where the answer was ALW, and I blurted out "Who is Tim Rice?" :ohyes:
