ROCK/FUSION POWER TRIO THE ARISTOCRATS
TO RELEASE FIRST LIVE CD/DVD
BOING, WE’LL DO IT LIVE! ON DECEMBER 10
Guitarist Guthrie Govan, bassist Bryan Beller, and drummer Marco Minnemann are captured live at Alvas Showroom in San Pedro, CA

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 8, 2012) – The rock/fusion power trio The Aristocrats – featuring Guthrie Govan on guitar, Bryan Beller on bass, and Marco Minnemann on drums – will release BOING, We’ll Do It Live! The Aristocrats At Alvas Showroom onDecember 10, 2012. The release will be in two formats: A standard-edition, 14-track, 2CD album, and a Deluxe EditionDVD + 2CD package featuring two additional bonus tracks, bonus audio from soundcheck, additional candid show footage, and bonus interviews with each band member. The 6-camera video was shot in high definition, and the 5.1 surround audio mix was done by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree. A 2-channel stereo mix is also available.

Formed practically by demand after a single raucously received set at the Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA in January of 2011, the trio tracked their debut album The Aristocrats [BOING!] just four months later, and released it that September to universal acclaim. But the core energy of the band from the start was their preternatural live chemistry, which became even more explosive during a year’s worth of worldwide touring.

“We’re all definitely proud of the studio album,” says bassist Beller, “but we were just getting to know each other when we cut it. Now that we’ve traveled the world together, we really get each other musically and personally. Honestly, we spend a lot of time making each other laugh to the point of tears. I think that really comes through live, the sense that we’re friends walking a high wire together musically, but also that, sometimes, we just choose to be extremely silly. Somehow it all works.”

BOING, We’ll Do It Live! was captured over two nights in June of 2012 at Alvas Showroom in San Pedro,CA, and features the entire Aristocrats repertoire, plus select material from the trio’s individual back catalogs, and a brand new, previously unreleased song, “Dance Of The Aristocrats.”

They are currently touring Europe. Marco of course is the drummer for Steven Wilson's solo projects, one of the best in the world.

All three are among the best at what they do. Guthrie is an incredible guitarist - he was writing a guitar column in the UK for years. And Bryan is one of those guys that just astounds me - the various projects he goes between and can adjust to astound me. The Euro tour ends today (maybe yesterday), and Monday he joins the Dethklok tour. And he's done the previous two or three Vai tours, in addition to his solo stuff. And Marco - good lord!

Side story about Guthrie - Bryan did a clinic here a few months ago, and he talked about a song that Marco wrote called "Bluesfuckers". He said he and Marco walked into rehearsal one day and found Gurthrie playing it at double speed - and it's already really fast. When guys like that can't believe what you're doing...

Marco was also the runner-up for the Dream Theater gig that Mike Mangini got. I had mixed feelings about that - I thought Marco would have been great, but it probably would have meant the end of some of this other stuff.

Nice! I haven't seen Marco or Guthrie yet. Would love to, but the tours haven't come around here, and the ones that were within driving distance didn't work out for me.

I'll post the pre-order info for Bryan's web site when it's available.

That's what I got, too. I almost screwed up and got the complete, but I caught myself.

Got the CD/DVD with t-shirt special today in the mail. Very nice. I've never heard their music so it will be fun to try out the DVD when I get a chance.

I got it yesterday and listened to about half of disc one.

I'm anxious to see what the final DVD bonus feature is...

Just saw this-I met Guthrie Govan about 3 or 4 times when he was in Asia. What a nice, nice guy and a killer guitar player. When Asia played "Bad Asteroid" at a gig afterwards I mentioned how it reminded me of some Fusion-era Jeff Beck and he just stopped talking to me. I also mentioned his playing on "Kings Of The Day" from the Asia album Aura reminded me of Steely Dan and he hugged me! Check out his work on Aura and Silent Nation those are two very good albums in the John Payne-era Asia.

I asked if I offended him and he said he wanted to cry because that was a huge influence on him and nobody had ever said it to him before. Then we started babbling about how great Beck is and all types of Fusion guys so this makes sense! This would've been around 2002 or so. I have his autograph on a few things Asia related. Such a pity more people don't know about him-he blows away hundreds of overrated guys the media hypes to death.

I'll have to hear this!
