Jimmy Page remastering Led Zeppelin albums for 2013 boxset release
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has revealed that he is working on remastering a number of Led Zeppelin albums with a view to releasing them next year.
Page, who has also overseen the DVD release of 'Celebration Day', Led Zeppelin's 2007 O2 Arena gig, revealed in a new interview with Mojo that he is working on extra material for each album the band recorded and that they will see the light of day in a series of box set releases, starting in 2013.
Speaking about his plans, Page told the magazine: "There are a number of Led Zeppelin projects that will come out next year because there are different versions of tracks that we have that can be added to the album so there will be box sets of material that will come out, starting next year. There will be one box set per album with extra music that will surface."

Surround sound mixes, please. Jimmy Page, meet Steven Wilson.
If there's any band that's a no-brainer for me regarding super-expensive box sets, it's Zeppelin, so Page had me at "There are a number of Led Zeppelin projects that will come out next year..."

I'd be happy just to get uncompressed cd's with a quality a/d conversion.......... I don't THINK I bought Japan LP's of these, so for 1,2 4 & Houses it would be my 5th purchase (including the first 2 box sets), & only my 2nd & 3rd purchase of the others!

I hope these new remasters are taken from the original 2 inch multitrack masters to rid the music of all the tape hiss that's hindered Zep's catalog...

One box a year? Man, that's going to take a long time. My hearing will be gone due to old age when the catlg is completed.

Page's quote said "one box per album" and that there will be "a number of Led Zeppelin projects that will come out next year." Hopefully that means several box sets in 2013.

Thanks Richman666, I misread that (Thank God). Now I can excited (again).

So for years Zeppelin have claimed that there really isn't any extra material laying around that's worth releasing, and all of a sudden there is so much they can create a box set for each and every one of their albums? I'm a big Zeppelin fan but really skeptical over this announcement. If all the extra material consists of subpar rehersal recordings and hodgepodge live excerpts then I have little interest in these. Hopefully I'll be surprised with what they come up with.

I think Page is slightly less precious about what gets released than he used to be, and his quality control is still amazingly high. I can't think of any subpar product ever getting an official release. Considering the incredible audio & video quality of the Zeppelin DVD, I think he always wants to give fans great value for their money. So unlike some super deluxe immersion box sets that load things up with unnecessary crap, I expect (or at least hope) that we will get some worthwhile bonuses on these box sets.

Are you saying that I won't be getting any Led Zeppelin marbles, scarves or coasters with each of these?

They'll probably come with the super-duper deluxe editions, of course. At the very least, I want a full-sized "object" with my Immersion edition of Presence.

I think Page wants the $'s before he dies. Makes sense to me.......

I think he's less of a money-grubber than a lot of artists from that era. If he was, there would be a lot more official Zeppelin merchandise out there, as well as numerous reissues and expanded versions. I could be wrong, but I'm hoping that these upcoming Immersion-type sets will be definitive versions and won't be remastered, remixed and expanded again and again.

I was actually thinking the opposite; it may have finally dawned in Page that the money won't be any good to him after he's passed away from old age. It may be part of his motivation to finally open the vaults. Comment was not meant as an insult.
