I love this band and do not own all of the albums. I was so upset when they only did the remasters aside from Diesel And Dust as download only. Alathough this does not look like a US release, there will be a physical release in the UK. I can assume these tracks are remastered. It looks like a great comp. I plan on getting it for sure. Looks like only download in the US-boo! I saw these guys live twice and they were phenomenal-Peter Garrett is one of the greatest Rock frontmen ever!

Looks like a good collection - thanks for the info. One minor quibble is that I wished they had included "Used and Abused" (from their self-titled album) and other songs from "Capricornia", which I thought was a strong, underrated album.

I got into this band late but like everything I have heard. This Collection will be a good start to fill in many of the holes in my Midnight Oil collection.

I had that thought as well. If they're only going to have one song from the first album, "Used and Abused" would have been a better choice.

That album was a great return to form. It was great to see them go out on a creative high like that. (And I do think "Lurtija Way" is the best song on there, and "Golden Age" is great as well -- so I'd say they chose well as far as which ones from Capricornia to include.)

I had the pleasure of seeing Midnight Oil at Jones Beach in their prime and they were a thrilling live act. Have most of their albums on CD. But this looks like a nice collection.

Peter Garrett is now The Federal Minister Of Education. The guy is a politician in a suit, a member of parliment. I still love the band but lost a lot of respect for Garrett selling out to the Labour Party. This 2 CD compilation does cover a lot of my fav Oils songs, looks good. The 1st 4 albums they did are classics.

So, out of curiousity, how many other ICErs have a copy of Midnight Oil's The Green Disc, one of the earliest promo-only CDs?
I've got it! I was lucky enough to find a copy for $20 a few months ago. It only goes through the Blue Sky Mining era, but it's well worth picking up. It has an extended version of "The Dead Heart" on it as well as a few alternate versions of other songs.

Cool! I saw them twice too! Any chance of an albums thread?

Yeah, same here, but I don't find that it has impacted the band's music much. I think most of their albums are excellent and none of them are bad.
Btw, re: this comp. It's okay, nothing special. I don't see why Bird Noises, an EP, should get more representation than their debut album.

That is kind of odd.
So did anyone get those "download-only" remasters of the first few albums? I had thought at one time that the debut album might be worth getting. The mix on that one is pretty thin. When I listen in my car, the vocals seem mixed way too loud, and the guitars much too soft.

I've been out of the loop for a while; I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that this is the first time I'm learning of the download-only albums. But I'm cool with what I got. The debut album, btw, has really started to grow on me, not that I ever thought it was bad.
Btw, I don't know how many non-album tracks the Oils have, but there should be some kind of release that accommodates those.

I do dig the first album, with the exception of that 8-minute track at the end. I tend to think of that album as a really good six-track EP.
There was a "Best of the B-Sides" album from Midnight Oil that had non-album tracks, but it was woefully incomplete. (Though the included tracks were very good.)
