It looks like Mute Records has wrapped up it's series of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds re-issues with the release of Nocturama, Abbatoir Blues/ Lyre of Orphesus and Dig, Lazarus, Dig!. Unfortunately right now these are import only sets. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but the DVD component of these sets arein Pal Region 2 format. I'm not so worldly or obsessive that I have the components to crack that (I can beat the PAL part by using my MAC, but I'm not sure about the Region 2 coding). Does any one know if there is going to be a domestic release of these sets or am I going to have to live with the imports?

   

Hmmmm. I just ordered these from amazon.uk, and didn't even think about the PAL/Region 2 issue. I hope I'm not seriously annoyed in about a week or two...

According to early reports, these were supposed to be available domestically on August 14... not sure if that ever happened.

The official EMI site for the remasters indicates that all three of these titles include NTSC Region 0 DVDs, so that should be what's out there.

I never got any of the Cave CD/DVD reissues, since I just got into his music about 8-9 years ago and completed the catalog (with original CD pressings) a couple of years ago. If I ever find them for a reasonable price, I might "upgrade" my Cave collection, but can anyone confirm if these reissues are a significant improvement? Just as important, how are the surround sound mixes?

And Calljwan (apologies if I got it wrong) is correct. I received the three reissues today and spot checked the DVDs. They are in fact NTSC Region 0 and play fine on a domestic blue-ray player. So I have to apologize for doing a chicken little number on this issue.The imports are prefectly accetable / usable for US audiences.
