No tracklisting.

Still no additional details, but there IS now an order link and release date:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008S80PCE/?tag=imwan-20

From a lengthy interview with engineer Leo Sacks, mostly regarding his work on recent Aretha reissues, he does mention an upcoming project:

Quote:
I just finished compiling and producing The Complete Sussex & Columbia Masters for Bill Withers. That’s one for the ages.

Hopefully it offers extras...cause I'm a little bummed since Reel Music only needed to continue their campaign and reissue 'Bout Love in order for me to have a complete album set on CD, and great sounding too.

The Amazon listing also shows it as being 9 discs.

That *should* mean that it will include these, which is about 99% of his recorded output:

Just As I Am
Still Bill
Live At Carnegie Hall
+Justments
Making Music
Naked & Warm
Menagerie
'Bout Love
Watching You Watching Me

It will be interesting to see if any bonus tunes will be included. I know the last issue of Menagerie had a beautiful demo of "Rosie" that wasn't previously available and a couple of other bonus tunes.

Amazon UK has it for around $44 shipped to the US. I've already pre-ordered.

How can they be HALF of what amazon in the US is offering it for, which is currently $87.94??

I don't know, but it sure is half the USA price right now:

Lock it in, everyWAN ....

I just pre-ordered it on amazon uk myself for 27.69 pounds including shipping, whatever that is in US. That's even less than the listed price of 29.53 pounds. That's one thing I like about PayPal, they calculate the exchange rate for you at checkout.

@James Dean...I don't care HOW they got there. It's half and I'm locked in. Unless they cancel it out. Amazon UK always has these sets for cheaper.

For those who want to do the conversion, http://www.xe.com is your friend. Today's conversion rate makes 27.69 British Pounds 43.55 USD.

RoyalScam, it would be one thing if another dealer somehow was at half price, but it's amazon. I don't shop much at the uk version, but I haven't run into any threads that I can remember where it was saying amazon uk had a boxed set at half price compared to amazon US. I wasn't going to pay $87 for it, but $43 was a no-brainer, for me anyway. I'm just waiting for the email telling me it ain't so because, if it's too good to be true....

As a sidenote, you are right RoyalScam (and thank you for posting about amazon uk, I would have NEVER thought of going there), I just pre-ordered the BOC boxed set on amazon uk for 48 GBP, or $75.48.

I've had several cases where UK Amazon trounced other US sites, Amazon and otherwise. Another case this year was the Philadelphia Classics: The Tom Moulton Remixes and Philadelphia International Records: 40th Anniversary boxed sets. (Can you tell I was on a bit of a tangent earlier this year?!)

Granted, they were UK releases anyway, but Amazon UK had both sets for at least half the price of any US site at the time.

I can't imagine that price will stick. I'm sticking with my AmazWAN UK pre-order for around $40 USD.

Why wouldn't it stick, based on their pricing for the BOC set?

All right...I see several sites are selling this for around $30 now (like Deep Discount), so Amazon UK is no longer the great option it once was. I bit on ImportCds...hopefully we don't get screwed. But at least I still have cheap backups.
