Due to the phenomenal and totally unprecedented demand for Island’s complete Sandy Denny Box Set, released in November 2010, Universal Music is issuing a limited edition 4 CD version.

The original box set has become one of the most collectible box sets of all time. Now, for fans that missed out, this new four disc edition will include many of the original 19 disc highlights.

It will be limited to 3500 copies worldwide and boasts 75 of the cream of the rarities, demos and outtakes from the box set, including 17 demos taken from Sandy’s home recording tapes. Among these is the first known recording of Who Knows Where The Time Goes, a home demo recorded in 1967, plus demos and alternate versions of many Fairport and Fotheringay classics as well as outtakes and demos from her solo albums.

My only concern other than the price is that the sound on some of the SD rarities hasn't been the best. I have a memory of some recordings sounding like 2nd gen cassettes.

Looks like everything I would have needed from the big box. This is great news. I'm in.

Will do The Human Top. Just received it from Import.CDs and it is a very nice set. Great pictures of Sandy and well put together. Man, I can't wait for this weekend (and its only Monday).

After mine shipped from Amazon UK, they put a temporary halt on further sales for some reason, it's back up now. I can only guess that there were concerns about the CDs coming loose during shipping and getting scratched. Mine were all held in place just fine, but upon further inspection 2 of them had surface scratches and dings. Must have happened when they were placed in the 'book'.

The CDs are attached to the 'book' by 3 tabs on the outer ring of each CD, you have to push one of the tabs (the one labeled 'push') to release the CD, then slide it out. It's easy to see how they would get scratched going in and out. Same deal as The Move Anthology set, slightly different than the Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention Live at the BBC sets.

Played my CDs, luckily they played just fine, didn't hear any of the scratches. But I'll be storing them in separate jewel cases, not in the 'book'. BUT DANGIT, WHY DO THEY KEEP MANUFACTURING CD HOLDERS THAT SCRATCH YOUR CDS ?!?! I have visions of strangling the designer who came up with this, ugh !!

Outside of that, the music is divine, great great stuff, fab pictures, an essential buy for the Sandy fan...

My copy has shipped from Amazon. I promise a report when it arrives and I've had time to listen. I've heard the "first demo" of Who Knows Where The Time Goes" on YouTube and liked it so much I considered buying the big box. Looking forward to this.

Playing the first CD of the box which has already won me over bigtime. Beautiful Sunday morning music.

The package on this is gorgeous. The photography in the booklet is almost worth it alone to me. I got through most of the first disc and sampled some cuts from the others, and this is great stuff for real fans. The first disc is mostly home demos, and the quality is pretty good considering, but it's not audiophile stuff, to be sure. The rest sounds pretty good for the most part. I'm very glad to have this, and it just reminds me how brilliant she was. I don't know if she ever made a single note of poor or even mediocre music in her life.
