So, too soon to start accusing the Dio estate of milking the fanbase? How many more releases can we expect with piecemeal bits of unreleased material?

I'd more than welcome some milking of the Dio catalog.

Start with some proper QUALITY CD releases of Elf's Carolina County Ball (LA 59) and Trying to Burn the Sun. I have a quality CD copy of the first Elf album, but I am unable to locate CD versions of the other two albums unless it is a subpar quality release.

How about a compilation of Ronnie's pre-Elf recordings? Yes, in this case I know the sound would be rough as hell (doubt they could find any source material without heavy surface noise) and the material is completely different than what Dio became known for...but it would still be a nice release for the diehards that would like to have official versions of these tracks in their collection.

Deluxe versions of Dream Evil, Lock Up the Wolves and Strange Highways would be more than welcome.

Any comments on this early Elves collection? Is it worthwhile? I've seen it in stock at 'Rama before.

Singles collection box on the way. I started a thread regarding it in the Collector's Corner forum.

Yes, too soon! This is actually a very worthy collection covering 1996-2006 and includes 4 rare cuts (3 studio and one live). Aside from the lame cover art this is one I will now purchase.
Although Angry Machines was terrible and Magica was not my thing, Killing The Dragon and Master Of The Moon were really good. I've never heard any of the rare cuts before.

Bump: track listing, release date, cover art now added.

Also some info:

Due October 9, "The Very Beast Of Dio Vol. 2" will feature 17 songs, including three bonus tracks, including one that hasn’t been released before.

The project is the follow-up to the gold-certified "The Very Beast Of Dio."

The new CD picks up exactly where the first volume left off — from 1996 onward. And in addition to featuring such latter-day Dio classics as "Killing The Dragon", "Push" and "Fever Dreams", the compilation will also include several rarities that fans have long requested on a single disc — "Electra" (which previously was only a part of the ultra-rare "Tournado" box set), "Prisoner of Paradise" and "Metal Will Never Die".

All the rare tracks snippets (I didn't want to spoil things and listen to the whole songs, though I might later!) sound killer and the song selection is excellent, even from the lackluster albums! Sound quality also seems really nice-at least from what I can tell. A definite buy for me.
