There is a song that Jon Anderson and Mike Oldfield did together. Man, I wish I can find a copy of this. (Of course it might help if I can remember the title).

Actually I do not think it ever came out on CD. If so, it has escaped me.

You're talking about "Shine", a one-off collaboration from 1986.

There was also an extended version on the original 12" release; neither has been released on CD (although the single version was included on a CD-V video compilation in 1988). The video was also included on the 2004 Elements DVD.

Calijawn, since you noted in previous posts about the Jon Anderson track I have been able to get the 12 inch at a great price from an EBay seller. The DVD, also at a great price, was purchased and received that includes the video you posted so once again I need to say Thank You my friend! (I owe you)

On my playlist for the weekend!

I'm an Oldfield neophyte. So far I'm enjoying this compilation. I might have to check out some more of his albums. I have the original (?) multichannel SACD of Tubular Bells and that's about all I know from him. To be honest, seeing an artist that keeps releasing multiple versions of his most famous album was initially a turn-off - not to mention his is a genre I'm not normally interested in. But I'm digging several of the tracks on here .. Amarok, Sentinel, etc.

On the Wikipedia page for this compilation, it read "It was released on the same day as a number of other Oldfield releases; QE2 and Platinum remasters, and a 6 CD boxed set" ... Anyone know what that box is?

Just another Classic Album Series box-I believe all 6 are the recent remasters w/ no bonus cuts.
Here's a descripiton:

The Classic Album Selection series offers a range of superb original albums by some of the most groundbreaking artists of all time. The Mike Oldfield selection presents his first six albums in replica card sleeves housed in an attractive slipcase. It features the most recent remasters of the legendary albums Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Incantations, Platinum and QE2. It provides a complete overview of the first seven years of Mike Oldfield’s illustrious career

I have the Hary Nilsson "Classic Album Selection" box set, which I imagine is similar to the Oldfield set. The downside is that you don't get much packaging, other than decent replicas of the original outer LP sleeves, and there are no additional liner notes, photos, lyrics, etc. On the plus side, you can't beat getting 5-6 albums in a compact package for such a low price. I only have a few Oldfield albums, mostly on LP, and none of the ones in this collection, so I might have to spring for this.
