This show, as I've been saying for many years, needs to be retitled EVERYBODY EXCEPT FRANK LOVES RAYMOND. I do not understand this show's popularity, and I have indeed endured (um, make that "watched") several episodes, usually at my parents' house, since both of them think it's the funniest show of all time. I obviously disagree, although I recognize the acting talents of Doris Roberts, the late Peter Boyle, and that dude who plays Robert.

Favorite line from the entire series:

Deborah: "Yes, Marie, I bought my husband a Porn Machine!"

Marie: "I don't like that, Deborah."

Thanks for proving my point, Michael. There is nothing whatsoever funny about that exchange, at least in written form.

Shockingly, I agree with Frank. In my opinion, RAYMOND is the definition of a mediocre sitcom. I'd put it in the same class as HOME IMPROVEMENT, ACCORDING TO JIM, TWO AND A HALF MEN, GROWING PAINS, FAMILY TIES, WHO'S THE BOSS, THE FACTS OF LIFE, etc. Not particularly well-written, not particularly funny.

True. After all, we do share a love of 90's rock music, Bruce Campbell, and Ben Affleck movies.

Agreed. I've never watched an episode of Raymond. I think that's a good thing.

Think it is a hilarious show. and, from my observations, although exaggerated, hilariously true.

I could watch it everyday!

Thanks to the wonders of syndication, I could, too.

Fortunately, the channel button on my remote still works so I don't have to.

And one another.

I'm not a fan of the show, either. Dysfunctional family comedy isn't funny to me whatsoever. It might help that the Doris Roberts character reminds me of my grandmother -- that is, if you strip away the likeable qualities.

Proving, once again, my point that it's not funny.

I'd put a couple of those you mentioned above Raymond. I do think Patricia Heaton is a full-on scorchcake, though.

Well, judging on the basis of hotness, I'd rank them WHO'S THE BOSS (I'm a few years younger than Allysa Milano, and I had a huge crush on her growing up), GROWING PAINS (Maggie's a MILF, a realization I just had recently), ACCORDING TO JIM (Courtney Thorne-Smith and Kimberly Williams), FAMILY TIES (Mrs. Keaton and Mallory), THE FACTS OF LIFE (mid-run Blair), RAYMOND (pre-boob job Heaton), and HOME IMPROVEMENT (The second Tool Time girl).

Sadly, TWO AND A HALF MEN is accurately titled, and therefore, ineligible.

Everybody Loves Raymond is just plain unwatchable. Every one in it grates on me.

CBS is the network for bland sitcoms and gratuitous gore.

I've had a thing for Courtney Thorne-Smith ever since she showed up as a hot little Lakers cheerleader on L.A. LAW.

I can't tell you why Everybody loves Raymond, but I can tell you why I enjoy the show.

Frank Barone is my father, through and through. "Holy crap!" and everything.

But I can see why nobody else would find it funny.

Yeah, CTS is faboo. Anyone ever notice she often seems to be . . . cold on According to Jim?

I first noticed Courtney Thorne-Smith in the films SUMMER SCHOOL and REVENGE OF THE NERDS II: NERDS IN PARADISE. And then she hit the small screen on MELROSE PLACE, and there were lots of underwear scenes...and later, vodka scenes. Good times, aside from the alcoholism plot.

I hear she was on ALLY MCBEAL, too, but you couldn't have paid me to watch that show. Same with the Belushi show. Have I missed anything?

Raymond was good whenever I watched it. I'm not a regular sitcom watcher of anything these days. I do agree that the show was over-hyped as "the great CBS sitcom."

I have never found this show remotely funny.
