You know that news report about the tainted Peter Pan peanut butter?

We had one of the jars with the 2111 serial number but hadn't opened it yet. We had actually bought that one first, then forgot about it and had been eating another brand.

When my wife read the news article about it, she looked at our jar - 2111. Salmonella. She threw it out unopened.

Two people have died.

I'm feeling pretty lucky right now.

Whoa. Hadn't heard about this one, and that's usually the brand I buy.

Something possessed me to buy Jif last week, though, which I haven't had in years. Kismet, perhaps?

A few people I know have had jars from that lot number they had to throw out (1 after eating half the jar). There must have been a lot of pb in that lot.

I've had a 2111 jar for a few months. I hate the thought of throwing it away since I've been eating it with no problems for all this time...

Almost everyone in the office had at least one jar.We had one as well, unopened.
Kinda sux we threw it out, because that the odds of actually having a tainted jar were pretty high. BUT if you've ever had a bout of food poisoning, better safe than sorry.
