Crosby Stills & Nash/CSN 2012 ....DVD + CD $22.99
Crosby Stills & Nash/CSN 2012 ....Blu-Ray $27.99

Crosby Stills & Nash join forces for their first live performance video in over 20 years! Filmed during their 2012 tour, CSN 2012 includes many of the trio's classic hits as well as new songs, "Radio," "Almost Gone," and "Girl From The North Country" (a cover of Bob Dylan's 1963 release). The disc also includes interviews with David, Stephen, and Graham, plus their band and crew. A must-have for any CSN fan.

Here's hoping for the best (on key vocals, even if mass overdubs are needed) & hi res on the blu-ray. I hope if the br is hi res, they offer a cd & blu option.

Renny, any clue on a release date?

Amazon has the preorder links up. Looks like there's no Blu-ray/CD option....

Blu-Ray:

DVD (2 discs, I'm guessing the second disc is the CD):

It's on CSN Records.

I was able to pre-order the DVD/CD set at the show the other night which includes a tour T-shirt, the set and a special download code at the website. Nice t-shirt that was selling for $30 at the show.

Couldn't turn it down and I like to encourage things like this. The guy selling the merchandise was psyched I ponied up.

Excellent service there, John! Got my BD/CD set at Best Buy. They seemed to have plenty.

Geff,

No technical specs that I see anywhere on the package, but my player reads the only available audio as DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 @ 48 kHz and fluctuating between 1.6 and 1.8 Mbps.

Jay, thanks; that did help. It's probably 24/48 DTS lossless compressed. That's a bit disappointing. Usually 2.0 on BR music is PCM 24/48 at bare minimum. I've found the DTS HD to be bright at times. I may end up just getting the dvd/cd or if they ever release a cd only version that would be probably be more ideal for me. The only reason i would watch the vid is if it had hi res audio in 2.0.

I may try to get to BB & look at it also.

Edit: Someone posted on Amazon that the ONLY audio track is the 2.0 DTS. If that's the case I feel that it's a bit of a rip off. I just ASSUMED that there was a 96/24 or better 5.1 track; since I only have 2 channels I didn't ask. With the amount of space on a Blu-ray, only putting a compressed 2.0 audio track on a music disc is criminal; especially as the cd's aren't available without the video. With the immense amount of room on a br & no 5.1 audio, the 2.0 track should be 192/24 PCM.

If the review on Amazon is correct, this is a huge rip off.

Geff,

I can confirm that there is only one audio track.

Wow. I'd really like to hear an explanation from the CSN camp. This isn't like them. While they did go MLP on the Nash & Crosby dvd's, they at least went 96/24.

there is a yahoo group called "the lee shore".

if you join, i'm pretty sure that if you ask that question you will get answer from someone who knows.

As I just mentioned in "Here & Gone" i just picked this up. A couple quick thoughts:

1. The liner notes state there is a FOURTH guitarist, a "Shane Fontayne". As all 3 of CSN play guitar, it makes me wonder if Stills wasn't up to playing some of the leads. I can't see any other reason for taking a 4th guitarist out with them. Crosby is actually a fine guitarist, & Nash is a competent rhythm player.

2. Along the same lines, I think there is very little question that Stills has had significant health issues for well over 10 years. I noticed 2 things:
a. There are a lot of Stills tracks on here (at least 9, + possibly some of the new ones) & Crosby was recently quoted as saying there would never be another CSN studio album.

With that said, I wonder if this is a goodbye present to Stills from Crosby & Nash?

I don't mean this to sound like a Stills putdown. The man was amazing in his day. But from seeing the CSNY tour before Deja Vu, & watching the Deja Vu film, I strongly suspect that Stills is much sicker than we've been led to believe (possibly a major stroke in the late 90's?).
