The Killers name their new album

The Killers have revealed that their new studio album will be titled 'Battle Born'.

The Las Vegas rockers have spent the last year working on the follow-up to their 2008 third album 'Day & Age' and are likely to release the album in the autumn.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, singer Brandon Flowers said that 'Battle Born' is both the name of the band's own studio and a nickname for their home state of Nevada. He added: "In a sense, all Americans are battle born. Our ancestors came here for something better."

Song titles confirmed for the record include 'Heart Of A Girl', 'Flesh And Bone', 'Carry Me Home' and 'Runaways' and producers credited with working on the LP include Madonna collaborator Stuart Price, Steve Lillywhite, Damian Taylor and Brendan O'Brien.

Describing the record, drummer Ronnie Vanucci said: "It's living up to its title. This is our difficult fourth record."

BTW, the Killers contributed a note-perfect cover of the Raspberries' "Go All the Way" to the soundtrack of the new Dark Shadows movie. I hope it shows up on the album.

Yeah Jimbo, I think I read this somewhere. If not on the CD track list, hopefully as a bonus.

Saw the movie today (and liked it). Love The Killers and it's a great cover-they are such an amazing band. It plays over the end credits.
Sadly, it is NOT on the seperate soundtrack of just songs (oddly only a UK import) and that SUCKS!
The score IS available from Danny Elfman and is a really good one.
I really hope that cover ends up on the new album even if it's only on a deluxe edition.

The Killers' Brandon Flowers: 'Taking time off from the band is risky'

The Killers' Brandon Flowers has admitted that the band have taken a "risk" by waiting nearly five years to release their new studio album.

Last month (May 28), the group revealed that their new LP, which is the follow-up to 2008's 'Day & Age', would be titled 'Battle Born', with the album set for a likely release this autumn.

In an interview with Q magazine, Flowers said that he and his bandmates were aware that the decision to spend nearly half a decade working on solo projects instead of their fourth studio album could backfire.

Flowers, who admitted it had been a "risk", said:

Quote:
I'm sure taking too much time off is a danger. It's a bit strange to spend time learning to hone your skills and figure out what makes you unique as a band then take half a decade off. We just hope that lightning strikes again.

He also gave an insight into what the new material would sound like, adding: "It's still eclectic, I've not thrown the keyboards away. But it's definitely heavier."

Drummer Ronnie Vanucci, meanwhile, said that the band were eager to start playing their new songs live. "These songs are so good I'm just desperate to play some shows," he said. "I'd play the opening of a 7-eleven at this point."

Song titles confirmed for 'Battle Born' include 'Heart Of A Girl', 'Flesh And Bone', 'Carry Me Home' and 'Runaways' and producers credited with working on the LP include Madonna collaborator Stuart Price, Steve Lillywhite, Damian Taylor and Brendan O'Brien.

The Killers unveil new song 'Runaways' - listen

The Killers have unveiled their brand new single, 'Runaways'.

The track received its first official play on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show earlier this evening (July 10) and is now available to listen to online.

Scroll down to hear the track, which is a typically epic offering from the Las Vegas band, a heartland electro rocker complete with soaring chorus.

Speaking to Lowe, Killers frontman Brandon Flowers admitted that he checks online to see what the reaction to his songs is like. Of 'Runaways', which had leaked earlier in the day, he said: "I'm guilty of checking, seeing what the scoop is. I want people to like it, so I'm kind of curious as to what the reaction is."

He added that he was confident that the song would go down well with fans, saying: "I've always felt good about this song. It's exciting to think that we're gonna be playing again – we want people to hear this new stuff."

The Killers's new studio album 'Battle Born' will be released on September 17. A series of producers worked on the album, including Madonna collaborator Stuart Price, Steve Lillywhite, Damian Taylor and Brendan O'Brien. It is the band's first album for over four years.

Songs confirmed to appear on the album include 'Heart Of A Girl', 'Flesh And Bone' and 'Carry Me Home'. Brandon Flowers said to Lowe of the album title: "Whenever I needed help lyrically, I thought of that phrase and it helped me… There's some triumphant moments."

The Killers will make their UK live return at V Festival in August, headlining alongside The Stone Roses.
