The battle format was no where near Zelda.

Never played Final Fantasy, but the clip reminded me of Golden Sun a whole hell of a lot.

The music sounded the same, I'm pretty sure Golden Sun has those things that come down and tell you where you are, as well as holding items above your head, and the fighting format was exactly like Golden Sun.

It was like Golden Sun because Golden Sun is a by the book (a very good by the book, of course) JRPG in the spirit of the Final Fantasy games. If you liked Golden Sun, you'd be right at home with any of the pre-VII games in the series. Tons of others, too.

Also, that video was great! It had pretty much every JRPG cliche you can imagine in it. Loved the student repeating the same dialogue early on, as well as how they turned to speak to one another. Gold!

That's definitely Final Fantasy. I spent far too many hours playing that lame ass game.
The reason it's a lame ass game? Because I got lost wandering around in the desert for a month and had to restart my game. I'm sorry. My lame ass game.

I figured that was the case.

Looking to buy the rerelease of Final Fantasy 1 & 2 for GBA sometime soon.

They're a bit light on story (FFI especially), so don't be expect the solid story of Golden Sun. I highly recommend the GBA rereleases of FF IV, V and VI if you're thinking about digging into the series. All have good stories, strong graphics, and lots of depth. If you liked Golden Sun you should enjoy these, too.

I'm aware of the lightness in story of the first FFs, however I'd still like to play them.

The later ones may come first though, since they're still in production and easier to get.

Bannings: One too few . . .
Let me just take this oppotunity to announce that Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is awesome. I solved it early this month, and our family was riveted. My kids would be talking about the latest plot development in Zelda (from the night before) over their breakfast cereal.

Just a well designed game -- good fighting, good puzzles, good quests, and the story never overwhelms the simple fun of the game.

It looks mad awesome.

Currently I'm looking into buying Wind Waker for my recently attained Gamecube.

I've gone way too long without a Zelda game.
