According to a Wikipedia entry:

Rooster Rag is the fifteenth album of original material by American rock band Little Feat due to be released in the summer of 2012. It marks their first original album since 2003's Kickin' It at the Barn and the recording debut with the group of new drummer Gabe Ford who replaced the late Richie Hayward. Four of the songs were written by former Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter in collaboration with keyboard player Bill Payne now the only musician to have played with every line-up of the group. Surprisingly, Paul Barrere the group's main writer/singer has only been credited with writing on one track, but his usual co-author Fred Tackett contributes four songs, all of which have appeared on his solo albums but not all of which he sings lead on.

The song Candy Man Blues by Mississippi John Hurt has been done by the band live for some years and appeared on their 2005 collection Barnstormin' Live.

The order of tracks has not yet been revealed but an email from the band's website to its subscribers listed the following.

Rooster Rag (Bill Payne/Robert Hunter)
Way Down Under (Bill Payne/Robert Hunter)
Rag Top Down (Bill Payne/Robert Hunter)
Salome (Bill Payne/Robert Hunter)
The Blues Keeps Coming (Bill Payne/Gabe Ford)
Just A Fever (Paul Barrere/Stephen Bruton)
Candy Man Blues (Mississippi John Hurt)
Jamaica Will Break Your Heart (Fred Tackett) sung by Paul Barrere
One Breath At A Time (Fred Tackett) sung by Paul Barrere, Sam Clayton and Fred Tackett
Tattooed Girl (Fred Tackett)
Church Falling Down (Fred Tackett)
Mellow Down Easy (no writing credit given yet but lead vocal is by Sam Clayton)

With Lowell, Roy and Richie all gone from the original band - I find it hard to consider this a Little Feat release...I will purchase this but will not expect to hear what I know as Little Feat.

Let's see. Roy and Lowell have been gone for thirty plus years. Richie died last year and everyone else is hopefully evolving artistically. I should hope this record doesn't attempt to be a Dixie Chicken retread.

Roy? He left in 1972! Some Zappa prejudice perhaps?
I do understand the George and Heyward worries, but geez, Lowell has been gone since 1979. And believe me, I agree they were never the same afterwards, but Let It Roll was great and I saw them live in 1988 and 1989 and it was definitely still Little Feat.
The last album I bought was Shake Me Up in 1991 and it was awful. However, the last album Join The Band in 2008 (I think) actually did relatively well and got good reviews and I have to say I'm glad Shaun Murphy is gone.
I am not saying this new album will be genius, but I might give it a shot. Gabe Ford is a very good drummer and was close with Heyward. They're playing down the shore this summer at a venue on the boardwalk in beautiful Ocean City, NJ so we might go.
If this album is a joke or a stinker I won't even think about it. Little Feat from 1971-79 are very dear to my heart, so I am not expecting much here but I will give it a shot at least.

I know most people don't want to hear this-but this album is rather good, very funky and easily the best thing since Let It Roll in 1988.
I guess I have to say this, but I love the old stuff and the band will never be the same without Lowell George. I would never even question that. Never. Nobody with any sense would.
But, this record is really fun and good, solid stuff-at least on first listen. I will see how I feel after a few more spins.

I just listened to it today and thought it was very good. I'll put it in my rotation after I catch up with some other CDs I bought last week...
