Juliana Hatfield's first-ever all-covers album featuring an eclectic mix of rock and pop song interpretations (Bad Company, Pete Yorn, Teenage Fanclub, ELO, Liz Phair, Led Zeppelin) -- acoustic as well as raw rock and electric programmed-beat versions. Some produced and mixed by Andy Chase of Ivy/Brookville. Featuring background vocals by Matthew Caws of Nada Surf...

Juliana's working on a new covers album, again funding it thru the Pledge Music method. There are a few details on the Pledge Music site, but nothing concrete. No song titles, number of songs, but she's posting frequently, including occasional work-in-progress videos. You can pledge and purchase the album in a variety of configurations, extras, and prices.
(this website is extremely slow, for me anyway, ugh...)
Since Amazon never got any CD versions of her last album (I luckily found a new copy thru an Amazon 3rd party), and they very quickly sold out on her own website, I'm going the pledge route this time.
Don't know if she's into Black Sabbath, but it'd be kool to hear her do a nugget off one of their first 4 albums...

This process is kinda neat, getting multiple daily updates from Juliana via her pledge music site. She's dropping hints, showing short teaser videos, keeping us guessing. Though she's stating that anything being rehearsed / recorded will not necessarily make the final cut, this should be one fun covers album. So far the hints include possible songs by The Cars, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, others I don't yet recognize.
I can't help but wish I was there in the studio with her, jamming away, ha (yeah, dream on). I'd still suggest she do a Black Sabbath song too (one from the first 4 albums)...

These 2 songs are streaming on Juliana's pledge site, but they are 2 of her older tunes (wouldn't expect them to be on the new covers album). But they are so good !! , I just had to post them here. First a midtempo rocking ballad, outstanding guitars, chord changes, vocals: "Mountains of Love" from her comp Gold Stars (also from the unreleased God's Foot album):

Never thought I'd say something like this, but she;'s sending out so much that I don't bother to click through anymore. It's kind of overwhelming; I love her music, but I don't need to know every tiny detail of her life!.
I also use an older news reader, & the code she puts in the emails makes them appears as an unreadable black page with a link.

I'm with you, Geff. There are at least four a day, sometimes more. Some are mildly amusing, but mostly pretty trivial. It's just too much.

Thanks for the vid, brave Sir Robin!
I had forgotten about that song. It was indeed from 1995, and appeared on a various-artists CD included with the UK music magazine "Volume" (Volume 13 "The Lucky Issue", to be precise). The mag was approximately the size of a CD jewel-case, tho somewhat thicker.

While we're waiting for the covers album to come out (I think she's shooting for the end of July), here's Juliana on an episode of The Adventures of Pete & Pete. She appears in the first few minutes of parts 1 & 3:

I didn't see JH in part 1. Was she one of the little girls? Was she the younger lunch lady? I thought she was already an established artist in the 90's?
