Fleetwood Mac is a band often name-checked by other acts, and now those influenced by the ’70s rockers will put their money where their mouth is.

The 17-song collection features mostly indie rockers putting their spin on Fleetwood Mac classics like “Gypsy,” “Landslide,” “Tusk,” “Dreams” and more. Artists featured on the album include ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Marianne Faithfull, Best Coast, The New Pornographers, Lykke Li, Karen Elson, The Kills, MGMT, and Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo featuring Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis.

The man behind the compilation is Randall Poster, who also put together last year’s widely acclaimed Buddy Holly tribute album, Rave On, and has worked as a music supervisor on Wes Anderson films.

“The story of Fleetwood Mac has always intrigued me.” Poster said in a release, “And we’ve tried to tell that story through the arc of music we’ve recorded. Working with some of our favorite artists and performers, the magical musical legacy of Fleetwood Mac shows itself to be alive and well.”

more like a Stevie tribute, 10 of the 17 songs are hers...

Just like the group's own compilations, it more or less ignores the pre-Buckingham/Nicks era.

I agree that there are too many Stevie songs,but that there are any pre-B/N songs on here is a surprise to me.Gibbons should do a nice job with "Oh Well", and having anyone cover "Before the Beginning"
is a treat.
I wonder if the "Angel" is Stevie's or Welch's?
Only 1 Christine song?
