Slash works on new solo album with Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy
Slash has begun work on his next solo album, the follow-up to 2010's self-titled release.
In an interview with Planet Rock Radio, former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash revealed that he has joined forces with Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy.
"Myles and I have been writing all throughout the tour so we've got a lot of material," says Slash, "and at this point we're probably gonna start a little bit of pre-production in June and then do the tour in July. In September we're going to [do more] pre-production and the album is slated to come out in March or April [next year]."
The two had previously collaborated on Slash's last solo album, with Kennedy featuring on tracks 'Back from Cali' and 'Starlight'. Slash will play a series of headline UK shows in July, as well as a slot at London's High Voltage Festival. Meanwhile, Alter Bridge will take on Download Festival on June 10.

Slash starts work on new album
Legendary guitarist Slash has told fans that he's ready to record the follow-up to his self-titled solo album.
The former Guns N' Roses musician tweeted:
Quote:
Listening to demos we recorded last week. Some tighter than others but sounding good. 14 songs together so far. Three more to go. Looking good to record three songs starting this weekend.
He will be getting the same band together to work on the material as last time, including Myles Kennedy, frontman of Florida rock band Alter Bridge, on vocals. The sessions so far haven't been completely painless though. Slash added:
Quote:
I got blisters on my fingaas!!'-John Lennon. Tell me about it. At least I was told it was John. Regardless who said it, I've got them and I love them.
Fans of GN'R's classic 'Appetite For Destruction' will be pleased to hear he's even dug out his original guitar to take into the studio:
Quote:
Played my original AFD Les Paul all day today. It's been awhile. It's like an old friend. Such a great guitar.
There are 17 songs written and ready to record, and Slash and the band are heading to California's Barefoot Studio to work with producer Eric Valentine – according to bassist Todd Kerns they expect to have the record finished by the end of the year.

Slash in the studio for cowbell-heavy second solo album
Slash has revealed that his second solo album will be heavy on the cowbell.
The former Guns N'Roses guitarist – real name Saul Hudson – is currently recording the follow up to 2010's 'Slash' in Los Angeles. He tweeted from the studio:
Quote:
The '70s called & asked for their cowbell back. We said 'screw u, we're keeping it.'
The rocker also said that he's hoping to record seven songs before Christmas, commenting on Monday (December 19): "Back in the studio tomorrow to do song #7. This is our last week before Xmas/NY, then resume recording on the 2nd". Later he added: "1 song down, getting drums set up for song #2 for the day. Is it possible to get 7 more done before Xmas? Who knows. Iii|; )"
Songs believed to be in contention for inclusion include 'Halo', 'Standing In The Sun' and 'Bad Rain'.
Slash is again collaborating with Myles Kennedy, frontman of Florida rock band Alter Bridge, on vocals. The band are recording in California's Barefoot Studio and working with producer Eric Valentine – according to bassist Todd Kerns.

Slash: 'Recording my second album has been as much fun as playing in Guns N' Roses'
Slash has revealed recording sessions for his second solo album have been his best since the early days of his former band Guns N' Roses.
The axeman, who is currently recording the follow up to his 2010 self-titled debut in Los Angeles, also said he is trying to capture a more "live" sound on his new record.
Slash told Total Guitar:
Quote:
This has been the most fun that I've had since the earliest Guns N' Roses days.
He added: "I definitely have found a certain freedom to be able to feel comfortable expressing myself with the guys that I'm working with, and just being able to focus on what it is that I like to focus on, and not having a lot of outside distraction and internal distraction and confusion."
Slash is again collaborating with Myles Kennedy, frontman of Florida rock band Alter Bridge, on vocals. The band are recording in California's Barefoot Studio and working with producer Eric Valentine – according to bassist Todd Kerns.
He added: We're just going for the one take that sounds good, so my solos are more raw, probably sloppier in a way, because they're very spontaneous to the point where it's in the heat of the moment.
"Everything is being played live with the music tracks: the solos, everything. We're trying not to overdub extra bits. So if there's a solo, I'm playing on one side, singer Myles [Kennedy]'s rhythm track is on the other."

Slash announces details of second solo album 'Apocalyptic Love'
Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has announced details of his second solo album 'Apocalyptic Love'.
The album is the follow-up to the legendary axeman's solo debut, which was self-titled and came out in 2010. His second offering will be released on May 21 through his own label DikHayd International and distributed through Roadrunner Records in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
'Apocalyptic Love' will feature Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy as the singer on each of its tracks. Kennedy had previously guested on two tracks on the guitarist's solo debut, which were titled 'Back From Cali' and 'Starlight'.
Kennedy also acted as the live singer during the guitarist's subsequent world tour and will do so again later this year. During this time, his bandmates in Alter Bridge will be reforming as Creed.
It was revealed on Friday (February 18) that Slash will be playing live with Ozzy Osbourne as part of the 'Ozzy And Friends' European tour which has replaced many of Black Sabbath's summer live shows. The shows have been reworked as Sabbath's guitarist Tony Iommi continues to battle lymphoma.
It was also confirmed earlier this week that the classic line up of Guns N' Roses, of which Slash is a key member, will reunite to attend their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April. However, they are not confirmed to play live together on the night as yet.
Slash is confirmed to play a solo live show at this summer's Download Festival.

Listened to Slash on the Eddie Trunk Metal radio show last night and he talked about the RRHOF and this new album. Slash sounded great and he will be touring near here (Huntington LI) this August (I will be there).
Heard a new cut from the album called Standing In The Sun and it is excellent. Miles Kennedy sure can sing.
A must buy on Tuesday for me.

Loving the new album, Slash sounds reborn.
Watching Slash and Myles Kennedy on a HDNet concert from the UK which aired 5/13/2012 and man does "Nightrain" sound incredible. This band cooks! I'll be seeing them right here on LI in early August (a birthday present for my wife and myself).
After seeing the Axl Rose version of GnR, it will be fun to see the Slash version on those classic GnR songs and his solo songs.

I had been looking fwd to getting this, but I picked up the Live in Stoke album with Kennedy on vocals and totally hated it. Didn't like his voice very much and other than the GNR songs I thought the music was absolutely dreadful, got rid of it. After hearing that Slash has forever lost me I'm afraid.
