Not even going to bother making a poll.
We all know Mad Magazine won.

In all seriousness Marvel is the clear winner of the decade. DC had some good stuff, but the folks at Marvel were reinventing the medium.

(drops mic) A very real argument could be made that the 64 Batman series puts DC over the top. Hell, maybe I should make a poll.

Brilliant stuff on both sides, but I went for Marvel.
'50s - EC '60s - Marvel '70s - DC '80s - Indies '90s - DC '00s - Indies

Going by total comics published and total sales for the decade, DC wins
And total number of turtle-boys, fat heroes, and super-brain characters with enlarged bald craniums.

Batman had five books in the '60s (Batman, Detective, Brave & Bold, JLA and World's Finest). Superman had eight (Superman, Action, Superboy, Adventure, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, JLA and World's Finest).

Marvel wins...
but DC published some good stuff:
Superboy & Legion by Shooter & Swan
Challengers of the Unknown by Jack Kirby and Wally Wood
Weisinger Superman
Deadman by Neal Adams
Hawkman by Fox and Kubert
The Flash by Broome & Infantino
Green Lantern by Fox, Broome & Kane
Adam Strange by Fox, Infantino & Anderson
Doom Patrol
"Kubert" War books
Early O'Neill Adams Batman
Anything else?

I love both company's output at the time - so many great artists on both sides. Stan Lee made the difference for me.

Anything else? Nick Cardy. Kirby Challengers was the '50s, though.

'50s - DC, they weathered the witch hunts and came back with the Superman TV show and the Silver Age heroes.
'60s - Marvel
'70s - Marvel, I guess, since DC imploded toward the end of the decade... with few exceptions, neither one really seemed to put out all-time great material, IMO.
'80s - DC
'90s - Indies
'00s - I guess Marvel since they had the better sales, but in terms of content, it's a wash for me.

Anything else? They had the benefit of unlimited distribution, so they had the sci-fi titles, humor titles, popular books based on movie stars (Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis), romance... they did everything except the Classics Illustrated route.
