From Billboard.com:

Lenny Kravitz: Mama Said deluxe reissue due in June

Lenny Kravitz is releasing a Deluxe Edition of his 1991 album, “Mama Said,” on June 5.

Billboard reports Kravitz raided his vaults to create a two-disc package that features 21 bonus tracks, 15 of which have been previously unreleased.

Featured are home demos of "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over," "The Difference Is Why" and "What the...Are We Saying?," remixes, instrumental takes of several tracks and eight songs recorded live in Japan and in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The set also includes two previously unreleased (and unfinished) songs, "Riding On The Wings Of My Lord" and the instrumental segue "Framed, Lying, Crying."

"It was a crazy time,” Lenny tells Billboard. “My ex-wife (actress Lisa Bonet, who he divorced in 1993) and I were going through issues. I just had my child the year before ('Let Love Rule' came out). I was adjusting to success and...fame. It was a lot to deal with. I ended up kind of going into hibernation, 'cause at that point I went through a pretty serious depression. I just let all these feelings out onto the songs. It was very cathartic for me."

“Mama Said” became Kravitz's first U.S. Top 40 album, reaching #39 on the Billboard 200.

Lenny is currently on the road in Europe, supporting 2011's "Black and White America" with a mix festival stops with headlining dates.

I'm in. I always thought the sophomore album was the best representation of Lenny. Yes, the debut was the blueprint and classic in its own right, but "Mama Said" crystallized the vision. The third album invited MTV to the party, and then... well, forget it.

Mama Said is a damn fine album and I always liked it better than Let Love Rule which is also a great album. All the albums through 5 were really good (I thought 5 was his best after Mama Said), although Circus was patchy. I have no problems with Are You Gonna Go My Way either.
I don't listen to his new stuff anymore (and judging by sales not too many do now), and 5 was the last thing I bought by him, but the man has had a nice long career. He was one of my favorite 90's acts. I do want to get this.

Black and White America, his recent one, is pretty darn good, IMO.

I've never seen a "21st Anniversary" release before.

I've never bought any of Lenny's studio albums, but I always liked the song "Mama Said."

So when I picked up an advance promo of his Greatest Hits, I was disappointed that it wasn't on there.

Come to find out, the song's name is "Always On The Run" and it was a pleasant surprise when I heard that song on the Greatest Hits.

He also makes an appearance (and quite well) in The Hunger Games movie.

That song is so awesome as is "Fields Of Joy". Both of these have nasty guitar work by Slash.
I loved this album-a big part of my College days.
True story:
We were at a Fishbone show in Spring Valley, NY in 1991 (they were on Saturday Night Live the very next night) and there was a guy standing about 5 feet from us.
He was wearing a 70s floppy hat, 70s jacket and bell bottom jeans with sunglasses on. I yelled to my friend Craig-"Look at this jackass wannabe Lenny Kravitz reject! He looks like something out of Schoolhouse Rock-what a douche!".
A few minutes later, Craig went to get us drinks and we he came back he said, "Oh-I was talking to the bartender about that guy you made fun of-that WAS Lenny Kravitz"!
By that point he was gone, but I'm fairly sure he heard me and laughed to himself. I should've also yelled, "But I love that Mama Said album"!
