From MusicTap:

Hip-O Select plans the release of Smokestack Lightning/Complete Chess Masters (1951-1960), featuring Howlin’ Wolf, on both an expansive 4CD set, and a truncated single CD issue. Both sets are planned for October 18.

No pre-order links but there is a picture of the box on the MusicTap website. It looks like a Folio similar to the Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley sets.

Added by Linda -- the box will go into general release at Amazon on October 24th:

Depending on price I might bite, I currently own the 3 cd HW Chess box.

I picked up the box the other day, but have yet to listen to it. I did go through the book which was mighty cool. Being a huge Wolf fan, I can't wait to dig into it this weekend when I can listen to it without any distractions!

The sound quality is great, the book isn't very informative though when it comes to the actual songs.

I finally broke down and got this . I'm not thrilled with the packaging . The cardboard cover can easily get dinged corners . I am thrilled with the music though , it sounds great ! The liner notes are nothing spectacular , but the quality of the music makes up for it . Hopefully they will release another Wolf set that picks up where this left off . I got it from Blow It Outta Here , with shipping it was $60 . That was the best price I could find from a good dealer . A couple of places have it a little cheaper but I never had good experiences with them .

Everybody with a Wolf interest should pick this up because the Complete Chess Little Walter Hip O Select box went out of print quickly and now fetches silly money on amazon/eBay. The music is great and every home should have one!

It is a cd / dvd internet seller . They usually have very good prices , cheap and fast shipping and don't charge sales tax . I have been buying from them for at least 5 or 6 years and have no complaints at all I think their full name is Blowitoutahere Direct To You . They are at http://www.blowitoutahere.com/ .

Several Amazon third party sellers (95+% feedback) have been stocking it for less than $50 including shipping:

I have bought from Movie Mars , Rarewaves and Marvelio in the past and have had bad experiences from all three . I will never do business with any of them again . Those are a some of the sellers that I meant when I said there are a couple of sellers that have it cheaper .

While I hate to say anything good about a competitor, I've had nothing but good experiences with BIOOF. Have used them at least 10 times. I honestly have no clue how they provide such quality service at those prices. Where necessary I will pay a little more to use them rather than the DD family or the drop shippers, because there ikely will be no problems with the order.

I have bought several things from Movie Mars and don't recall having any trouble with them. I haven't heard of the other two sources that Don mentioned.

I've bought from Movie Mars and Rarewaves without incident. Not familiar with Marvelio.

A friend of mine got one of the pirated burned Roan dvdr's from Marvelio. However, it is possible they didn't know they were burned discs, several retailers were fooled on that particular scam. At best, it did mean that Marvelio did not look at the product, the pirated discs all had small dvdr stickers on the bottom left corner.
