Don't suppose there's ANY chance of On Your Feet being a remaster??!

This release makes me worried that a Complete Album Collection will not happen for BOC.

Note that the following is posted on BOC's website :
Complete BOC Box Set to Come In 2012 from SONY/Columbia
September 29, 2011
There will be a "complete box set" of Blue Öyster Cult's recordings released in 2012. The box set will include two bonus discs and three unreleased demos. It is unknown whether the recordings will be remastered or not. Watch here for further news!

Can't provide a link for the above, just head over to http://www.blueoystercult.com and click on BOC news.

How can the band's own website not know whether the recordings will be remastered or not?

Because the website is run by Melne (who used to help run the now defunct fan club) and the band's catalog is still owned by Sony and from what I can tell, they (Sony) make very little to no attempt to update her.

I'm sure these 5 are just cheaply packaged and not remastered at all.
I'd guess the box will use the exisiting remasters w/ bonus cuts (all are excellent) and the remaining albums will be newly remastered but with no bonus cuts or liner notes and will be in cardboard sleeves and a booklet will be included (as the Kansas box).
Now, I own all the BOC remasters (Blue Oyster Cult, Tyranny And Mutation, Secret Treaties, Agents Of Fortune, Spectres and the CD/DVD of Some Enchanted Evening as well as the 2 American Beat releases of Club Ninja and Imaginos), so to have to spend money on a big box to get the missing titles (On Your Feet Or On Your Knees, Mirrors, Cultosaurus Erectus, Fire Of Unknown Origin, Extraterrestrial Live, Revolution By Night, Club Ninja, Imaginos) will be somewhat irritating, but I have been waiting for remasters of these titles for years and years and as long as the bonus discs are worthwhile I'm definitely in.
But not for this Original Album Series at all.

I don't albums have ever been newly remastered for this series.....just the existing CDs at the time. Amazon UK also has the back cover art, and none of the CDs have bonus tracks, so I'm guessing they're the same.

It's also funny how it's perceived that Mirrors sucks so much that it was left off of this box. I like it better than Revolution By Night.

Agreed. I'm very curious. Mostly because I've been wanting an upgrade of On Your Feet for years. I have heard the master tapes are gone, but perhaps a good engineer could at least tweak the existing cd.

I just did a comparison of the original USA cd of On Your Feet with this one. IMO, they are definitely from the same master tape. Same time to the second, & my Oppo which has a last memory function recognized them as the same disc.

At the same time, I would say there was a SLIGHT amount of digital tweaking on the UK master (& I mean SLIGHT).

Which you prefer will depend on your taste, as they are quite similar & I couldn't recommend buying one over the other.

To my ears, the UK has slightly better sound staging, & the USA is slightly louder & has slightly more detail & also more bass.

Catch the frequent use of the word "slightly"??!

Also, imo this isn't nearly as bad sounding as some of us remember it being. Imo, the main shortcoming is a bit too much hall/crowd ambiance (which is why I slightly prefer the added detail on the USA pressing), but both are quite listenable to me. I also had that same slight preference for the USA on my older cd front end, but preferred the UK on the Oppo.

Listening to Fire at the moment. I hadn't played this all the way through in many years. It's much better than I remembered. My memory was I only liked it for the 2 or 3 hits. Pretty much the whole thing is good stuff.

I assume nothing on the box is actually remastered then?

Have Cultosaurus and Fire of Unknown Origin ever been remastered?

I've heard 2. OYF is definitely not remastered. I don't have a USA Fire to compare, but i doubt it is either.

The 1999 Rewind UK version of CULTOSAURUS was a remaster. Not a huge improvement over the el cheapo USA version but still a step up.
