According to Blabbernouth and the band's Facebook page, drummer Jerry Gaskill had a heart attack on Sunday.
There's been a further post saying that Jerry's on a ventilator, but is showing some promising signs.

Wow, that sucks. A great (and truly under-appreciated) band. I hope he recovers soon so they can get back out on the road.

Update on Jerry: Jerry is still on a ventilator while also dealing with pneumonia in both lungs but is recovering. Doctors say it's a slow process but things are headed in the right direction. Good news!

I'm one of the weirdos that likes the Dogman era best, despite the personal turmoil and anger everyone was going through.
One of the last times I ever went in a Christian bookstore, I asked about the new King's X and was told the chain had stopped carrying it because Doug came out of the closet.
Sigh.

New info and a deal to raise money for Jerry's medical expenses. I'll probably never listen to this more than once, but Jerry was a cool cat all the times I met him (and so were the others), so I paid despite my reservations about Wally Farkas' involvement. Quote: Jerry Gaskill remains in the ICU recovering slowly. As medical bills mount up many have asked how they can help. You can give Jerry $20 toward his uncovered medical expenses by going to http://www.molkenmusic.com/ or http://www.kingsxrocks.com/ and receive a free download of the new King's X album, "Burning Down Boston." Also, info about how you can give more is provided. 100% of all gifts collected go directly to Jerry Gaskill.

Weird that Burning Down Boston isn't even listed on their Wikipedia page. Is it a live album?

Yeah, it's a live soundboard recording.
And where did you get the idea I didn't like their newest album? Or are you talking about the bootleg? Their newest would be XV.

Oh. Because having dealt with Wally before, I think he's a bit shady and kind of an ass, which is unfortunate since he basically is Molken Records and that's where there majority of King's X stuff has been released for the past 4 or 5 years.
And despite what the "press release" calls it, the "new album" is a bootleg recorded on the Faith Hope Love tour.

Gotta be tough as a professional drummer to come back from a heart attack... that's a significant physical exertion every night he's on the stage.

No doubt, but hopefully he can get healthy again so the guys can get back on the road and record to get some income flowing - Jerry was driving a truck for a while to make ends meet for chrissake.
Luckily, the Jersey music scene seems to be rallying around him. There's been a couple of fundraising shows already.

King's X should do a Kickstarter. I'd pledge.

Unfortunately... as much as I hate to say it, I don't think they're organized enough. The state of their website (and any online presence for that matter) proves that.

Dang. They don't know me from Adam, or I'd help them. Dogman got me through some serious shit in college.
I think their problem all along has probably been mismanagement combined with the Christian music industry rejecting them.

Well, they were managing themselves and booking their own dates for a good part of the last 10 years or so.
They do finally have management again though.

Yeah. They've shot themselves the foot a fair number of times. An example: the website kingsxonline.com was the de facto band website for years, even though thy didn't own it. They had the URL all over merch for several tours. Then they got in a spat with the fan that ran the site and he pulled the plug. Rather than take it over from him (he offered to GIVE them the domain), they switched to kingsxrocks.com. I have at least 4 or 5 shirts with the old URL and nothing with the new one.
Let's not even discuss the fact that the new site isn't updated very often - heck it still had tour dates up a week after Jerry's heart attack and they had canceled the tour.

Ego stuff (literally - the guy's internet handle was "David's Ego"). He was always a bit of an ass, but the guy had the most extensive collectin of stuff on the band and ran the most amazing site with tons of free downloads of bootlegs and scans of things. Apparently he got a little too big for his britches and Ty decided enough was enough (Ty's nickname is "The General") and Ego got cut out. There's a little more to it, but that's it in a nutshell.
