I just saw this movie. Not bad.

Whenever a filmaker makes a superhero movie and then changes a lot of what made it work to begin with, I always wonder "why don't they just create their own superhero movie". Well these guys did and made it very Blair Witchy in terms of low budget look and camera work (which in the beginning was sos shaky I thought I'd never make it). Not bad though. Definitely inspired by Miracleman, it seems.

Before the movie I saw trailers for all the big superhero movies coming out. My thoughts are as follows:

Spiderman - Looks promising except for a ton of unmasking crap which I hate. But it looks good.

Batman - Not fan of Nolan's Batman and don't care for the political Occupy underpinnings but the trailer was directed well.

Avengers - Not sure how I feel. It could be a huge film or too chaotic. The Hulk looks more "real" though, definitely feels like an Ultimate Universe Avengers movie.

I sensed a heavy Akira influence, especially during the fight scene at the end. I expected the two combatants to start shouting "KANEEEDAAAAAA" and "TETSUOOOOOOOO".

Not as familiar with that but one of the floating scenes was right out of Miracleman and the spearing and other scenes as well.

The director is the son of Landis from Animal House. here is a video he did on Youtube with his Hollywood buddies.

I watched Chronicle recently... not bad. Not great, but okay.

It was a bit predictable. From the start I sort of figured the roles that the protagonists would divide into (just didn't know which would take each role).

The Chronicle kid is playing Harry Osborne in the next Spider-Man movie.

I would've liked the movie more if he'd called himself Chronicle Kid.

I saw this on cable last night. All of it, not 20 minutes. Kind of interesting. Nothing too great.

I feel like the younger generation on our planet is kind of useless and slack.

I liked it a lot too. The stuff with the abusive dad was really well done, and the relationship between the three boys was really complicated.

The best of the ordinary people as superheroes movies that have come out the last few years, although Super was really good too.

I liked this movie a great deal. I'm glad the director is taking over the next Fantastic Four movie.

Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, and Nathan Fillion. Directed by James (Slither, Guardians of the Galaxy) Gunn.

Super was pretty good(Ebert gave it a negative review because of one scene, very violent) I thought i wouldn't like it because it was another variation of the mentally unstable man becomes a superhero. It turned out to be good....but I wouldn't recommend it for everybody.

Finally got around to watching this. Entertaining enough, but I thought the plot was predictable throughout, and most of the characterization was one dimensional.

I just finished watching it. Pretty good, though it went off the rails quickly at the end. Loved the earlier part with them experimenting with their powers. But JC, if Andrew would have taken his head out of his ass for a minute.
