I'm surprised that there isn't a thriving MST3K thread at IMWAN. I just watched Time of the Apes last night with friends and it was incredible. We could devote pages and pages to Manos: Hands of Fate alone.

I watch Rifftrax all the time (not as often as I used to). I'm really excited about them doing a new take on Manos.

I have never seen a Cinema Titanic, but I am familiar with it. Seems to me they are both good in their own ways. Cinema Titanic does the same sort of genre movies that made MST3K famous, whereas RiffTrax does more contemporary things. They fill different niches.

Rifftrax has done plenty of older movies, too, and in fact sell DVDs of public domain stuff with Rifftrax commentary.
All of their live shows have been old stuff, too.

I like it that CT has brought back so many of the older MST3K veterans, including Josh Weinstein who now (because a writer and producer on The Simpsons shares his name) goes by the professional name of J. Elvis Weinstein.
I'm also surprised at how much Bill Corbett sounds like THE Crow considering how many years Trace Beaulieu did the role.

It took awhile, but I'm totally used to the Mike/Bill/Kevin team now. They're my favorite.

All of their live shows have been old stuff, too. Well aware of that, my point remains. They do a lot of stuff that does not fall under the kind of movies Cinema Titanic does. Rifftrax certainly has them beat when it comes to output. They do a lot more than Cinema Titanic.

Yeah, it almost seems as if Cinematic Titanic is on hiatus, other than the occasional live show.

I have never seen a Cinema Titanic, but I saw a list of movies they have done and it is a precious few, wheras RiffTrax seems to come out with a new movie riff every week or so. Those guys really know how to churn it out, but they still keep a pretty consistent level of quality. They are talented guys.

I can't even really vote, they're all basically the same family. And we're forgetting the short lived "The Film Crew", which was Mike, Bill and Kevin being paid by a faceless billionarie to reside in some company basement and watch films, the end result was pretty much the same as Rifftrax except they had the live sketches throughout like MST. They were doing good to but Jim Mallon is evidently a dick and told either Rhino or shout factory--whoever was distributing them at the time that if they keep distributing Film Crew stuff, he'd yank MST3K stuff away from them, which was a bit harsh, I thought. I don't bother with rifftrax though as the sync up is always a hassle to set certain things up although my son has done it in the past. Also, they take on popular movies and good movies as well, which is fine just not to my taste. I do get the occasional Rifftrax movie that they do sell when it's one they're bought the rights to, etc.
Kudos to Joel and company for coming up with Cinematic Titanic though. My family and I saw them live in Chicago doing Santa Claus vs the Martians and it was a great time. I should really catch up with some of their latest releases. They're selling a lot of their live event performances now which should be pretty cool.
